Saratoga Pizzeria & Grill — Restaurant in Virginia

I really wanted to like this place as I’d had it recommended as a place to bring my family for dinner by multiple people. However, it literally took them an hour from when we ordered to get our kids pizza out which lead to a complete disaster of a night.

Twenty minutes after we’d order my wife’s kabob came out, but there was still no pizza in sight. Kids are hungry and fussing at this point. 3 and a 1 year old, but we assure them their food will be coming out next. Twenty more minutes pass and the pizza STILL isn’t out and at this point the kids are extremely restless. My wife can’t even enjoy her meal because we’re forced to tend to the kids.

Twenty more minutes pass and FINALLY the kids small pepperoni pizza comes out an HOUR after having ordered. At this point the restaurant has completely cleared out and it’s late and already at the kids bedtime. For a place with pizza in the title you’d think they’d be able to make one in a reasonable amount of time, but either we were completely forgotten or they were completely overwhelmed and we were the sacrifice. Better to make the family of 4 upset than the party of 10 I suppose.

The food was actually pretty good, but it was impossible to enjoy it with screaming hungry restless kids. Overall a very frustrating and disappointing experience. Felt like my family were the least important...

-Don't get me wrong, this is really good Pizza however, it is not the best ever like others claim. After moving here in 2013 we tried many local Pizzerias 30+ or so. What we have found is that this geographic area in general is just not on the same playing field/level when it comes to Pizza as opposed to the North Eastern states. Every other Pizza joint around here claims to have NY style Pizza however, I have yet to taste it after spending a small fortune sampling to include Saratoga. Dave Portnoy from Barstool Sports who does Pizza reviews on YouTube would most likely rate this Pizza 6.1 - 6.4 on a scale of 1-10 (not a bad score). If Dave was doing this review against just Pizzas in this area it would most like achieve a 8.6 - 8.9.

-Customer service at Saratoga is excellent, very friendly ownership and staff.

-Price is a little high however, the rent in the shopping plaza is very high, so I do understand the necessity for the prices.

-Atmosphere is great.... very clean, comfortable, and roomy seating.

My family and I went here for dinner for the first time. The service was wonderful. Our waitress was very friendly. Unfortunately the food was not to our liking. I ordered The Greek pizza. I didn’t like it at all. It had so much sugar in the tomato sauce I felt like I was eating a dessert. We ordered a Gyro platter because the waitress told us it was the most popular dish in the restaurant. It came with Gyro meat, French fries and a dipping sauce with bread. It tasted ok but nothing special. When I think of Gyro I feel it should come with lettuce, tomatoes, onions and feta. The waitress told us it doesn’t come with the Gyro platter but we could order a salad on the side which we refused. My nephews ordered burgers and steak and cheese both of which were sub par. The ice tea tasted like water. we had to swap them out for soda. Overall we were not happy with the quality or the taste of the food. Since service was good we might give it another shot...
