Sarku Japan — Restaurant in Virginia

Been going here since they opened, the food is generally very good - but the consistency ends with their customer service. I've seen a few individuals that actually tried, but sadly they don't seem to last more than a few weeks (months at most). Today I had to deal with an employee who would rather get into a fight than sell me lunch. I suppose I made the horrible mistake of saying "lo mein" instead of noodles on the phone, and was greeted with a "whats lo mein? we don't know what lo mein is here" just immediately trying to argue with me out of nowhere - after already giving me a "whats your name" and "what do you want" (literally, his only words - no greeting, nadda) on the phone. I ask if he's joking, and he says "so beef teriyaki with noodles.." I get there, knew who it was right away as he's already staring me down, asks "order for pick up?" I say "yup" still staring at me, he simply sarcastically replies "lo mein...." - just escalated from there, still staring me down, I asked for his name which he tells me, then pauses and randomly says MY name (?!) - again, just escalating things. I asked for a manager (who was actually right there watching the whole thing!) I inquired if he usually lets his employees get into fights with customers (I guess "altercations" would have been more accurate) but this employee responds "FIGHTS?!?! You want what?!" Face right up against the plexiglass. I look at the manager in confusion, who is now patting this guy on the shoulder and saying his name to calm him down - ZERO other action or words from the manager.

I've honestly never experienced anything like this in my life, and I've been managing employees myself for over a decade.

I'm probably one of their best customers, and will never set foot in this...

Sarku has been around for several years at this location. It’s convenient when shopping at this shopping center or if you’re out and about and are looking for a good meal.

Kudos! Something to mention is the food comes out temperature hot, like I like it! It makes all the difference.

I got the Shrimp/Chicken with white rice and spring rolls. Loved all of it. We’ve been here on several occasions and the food is always good. Thank you!

The staff was friendly and helpful when ordering. You order at the register and then your food is brought to the counter for you to pick it up. There isn’t a wait staff.

There are two entrances to Sarku. I didn’t get photos of the other entrance, but will take photos the next time.

They do play music from a radio station or satellite radio, but it wasn’t too loud for me and I liked the genre...

With the pandemic still happening, many businesses had to make adjustments to ensure everything runs smoothly and safely during these uncertain times, and Sarku at Dulles Landing is no exception. The staff wore masks, the designated sterile areas were clearly marked, and the dining area was not available, everything was for takeout only. I appreciated the extra effort in ensuring everyone from the food delivery partners to the customers and the staff felt as safe as possible. Plus, the food was delicious as always and freshly made, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Definitely a great place for a quick...
