Subway — Restaurant in Virginia

This subway is one of the nastiest Subways that I've ever been to which is a shame since it's a 24 hour location. The main problems have to do with cleanliness (though the employees can be pretty rude and kind of strange). Once I went in to order a sandwich and there was dressing smeared all over the lid for the sandwich items. Sometimes the lettuce is browned and I have seen bugs trapped under the glass. These things combined with the fact that the employees are normally not even at the front of the store (and sometimes I have waited for about 15 minutes waiting for someone to appear) and that they at times cleaned the floor or counters with their gloves on and then didn't change their gloves when they started making my sandwich made me stop visiting this location. The employees seem like they are on drugs and I noticed that a lot of the time the food (lettuce, bread, etc.) had a funny smoke taste. It wasn't until after I stopped going to this location (and started visiting the Dunkin Donuts nearby) that I learned about why some of those problems existed. The employees regularly go out back and smoke while looking at their phones. They leave the back door open (I would imagine this lets the bugs in) and they even sometimes have screaming matches with their coworkers out back. I think that this maybe why they don't come to help you when you walk in and that their smoke breaks maybe are effecting the quality of service and the quality of food. Add to it that this location (especially at night, and despite the fact that the police are regular patrons to the Shell station, Subway, and Dunkin Donuts) is a little bit rough I can not recommend going to this location. My husband went there and ordered something and had it made special with a coupon. He felt bad cause he had to be on a certain diet and made the order a little complicated but left a really good tip. The second he walked in a women employee looked at him and said "Oh, it's you." In front other customers and was getting snipy with him the whole time. My husband was so embarrassed. Not to mention they sent him an email saying his food was ready when it really wasnt so he had to wait for 15 more minutes after ordering it through the app. We will NEVER eat there again. As someone who has worked in the food industry for 5 years kindness goes a long way and my husband didn't deserve to be treated the way he did especially by an employee. I would give 0...

The people who work here are friendly, and the food is usually pretty good. My only complaint would be that they seem to run out of things and not make more of it. I figure for a 24 hour restaurant, there shouldn’t be any reason to run out of cookies, or certain sandwich meats. I’ve worked at Subway before and know how stuff is prepared there. Also, a few times I’ve ordered a meatball sub and the meatballs had sat for so long, they had gotten really hard and unedible.
