The Boulevard Pub — Restaurant in Virginia

I’ve been to The Boulevard Pub several times, and while the atmosphere itself is fine, and the owner is good, my experience with one particular bartender (I believe her name is Lizzie) has been extremely disappointing.

My issue began over a drink called a “Liquid Marijuana” (for clarification, it’s just a cocktail—no drugs involved). A friendly man at the bar offered to buy one for my acquaintance and me. After receiving the drinks, we stepped outside with them. Later, the same man came out and explained there had been a mix-up—staff had assumed we took his drinks, so they made him two more.

As soon as I learned about the misunderstanding, I went back inside and explained the situation to the bartender and staff. It seemed resolved at the time, and no one acted like it was a big deal. However, ever since that day, Lizzie has completely ignored me whenever I come in. She won’t make eye contact or take my order, and the only person who will help me is the owner.

When I asked the owner multiple times why I was being treated that way, he kept giving vague excuses (“she’s busy,” “it’s because of the guy next to you,” etc.). Eventually, after bringing it up again, he finally admitted it was because of that old misunderstanding over the drink. I told him that’s unacceptable behavior from a staff member—if there’s an issue, it should be addressed directly, not through silent treatment toward a paying customer.

I even asked him to review the security footage to confirm what I said was true, but he brushed it off, saying it would be “too much footage to go through.” One night, after this situation, I was left waiting almost an hour without service.

In the end, this isn’t about a single drink—it’s about poor communication and unprofessionalism. As a waitress or bartender, communication is part of the job. If there’s confusion or an issue, it should be discussed openly, not handled through avoidance.

Every time I’m in Virginia, I make it a point to go here. You will never find a bar anywhere else like this. I’ve been to more than my share.! An awesome, diverse and peaceful atmosphere. Everybody is always so friendly and It’s always such a high vibe when I go! The owner is such a great guy and really runs a tight ship and you can tell that all of the staff is tight. A great family feel. Karaoke nights are awesome! I went in on a Monday and it was such a peaceful, pleasant experience. The bartenders make great drinks. The food is delicious! Some of the best fries I’ve ever had! Will definitely be going back again...

This was my birthday weekend and my husband took me to this fabulous restaurant/pub. As soon as we entered the building Teresa greeted us with a hearty welcome and smile. She shared her expertise of the menu and everything she said was true. The food was AMAZING! I am a native New Yorker, so my palate took a trip back home while eating the empanadas & rice peas. Joel, the owner personally brought out the food, talked with us and treated us like family. I highly recommend The Blvd. PUB and will definitely be back with the rest of family.
