I decided to take my Daughter and my four grandchildren to eat at The Village Grill which we have never been to before. There are little tables in this restaurant so we seated the four children, ages 11, 7, 5 and 2, at a table and we sat at the table next to them. My daughter and I went to the counter to order our food, the kids were sitting quietly playing restaurant with the jelly packets and sugar packets. While we were waiting for our food, the owner of the restaurant came to the table to deliver waters and silverware but she seemed to be in a bad mood so she didn’t say anything to us. Shortly after that, she very aggressively told us that we have to take all the condiments on the children's table home with us because our children were playing with them. She then explained that because of COVID they can’t wipe every jelly and sugar packet down and serve them to other customers so they would need to be thrown away if we don’t take them. Keep in mind if the adults were doing this, I'm sure nothing would have been said and we just spent over 40 dollars ordering breakfast for us to eat. When I mentioned to her that she could have stated that comment better or just have thrown them away after we left without saying anything she argued with me. She mentioned that she assumed parents would know to not let their children play with things on the table and she has 5 children who would never play with condiments. She refused to refund our money, so we had them change the order to take to go. If you are going eat here, please do not touch the condiments if they’re even on the tables anymore. By the way don’t bring your children or grand children because they do not seem family friendly. So much for a fun day out...

While a bit of a smaller location than I'm normally comfortable with, me and my party just ate outside. The service was surprisingly quick and fast (though it wasn't super busy either), but the biggest surprise was the food! I truly can say I have never tasted a more nice, crisp, but still juicy--and 'fresh' slice of bacon than I have at this place. I've never been before so I try to stick with comfortable picks that are easy to eat even if made badly. A typical double-bacon cheeseburger... And I was genuinely caught off guard with how everything tasted. The burger was hot, fully cooked through and juicy, the cheese was melted just enough to not be burnt but also not be soggy, the lettuce was crisp, the bun was soft yet toasted to keep from becoming wet. The fries were done well enough to have that crisp bit of crunch to them without tasting like fried rocks, or soggy-salt-noodles. The staff were exceptionally friendly, and they were seemingly very clean and everyone had the proper masks and such on as well!

Overall I was pleasantly surprised by this tiny little place, and I don't understand why people have left bad reviews so far, BUT this is only my first visit... I'll definitely be swinging by at other days n times, trying different parts of the menu and I might change this review depending on how...

Divey little place, which in my experience normally means the investment is made in the food itself. Unfortunately, not in this case.

I ordered a single bacon cheeseburger with a side of fries and a soda. Price was reasonable (like $12) compared to similar restaurants, but the quality was subpar. Bun was stale, and personally I think the bun makes or breaks a cheeseburger. Apparently the young lady who took my order thought I ordered a regular cheeseburger so there was no bacon. Then there was the burger itself, lower quality beef (frozen patty?), similar to those frozen burgers you buy at the store that cook way down on the grill. It was small. Fries were overfried (not burnt, but way too crispy).

Service was great at first. The young lady who greeted me and took my order was nice. Another young lady who gave me my order wasn't as nice. She seemed annoyed to be there. When I left no one thanked me for coming in, which honestly would've made a huge difference in the atmosphere and the whole experience.

I would consider returning, but the quality of the food would need to increase substantially. There are far too many great places to grab lunch in...

We’ve lived in Chester for over 5 years but unfortunately just discovered this place a few weeks ago. Walking in I felt like I had just stepped back in time! I felt like I was a kid again stopping at a roadside diner. The place was cozy and filled with locals. Coming from WV, I know a good chili dog and this place has it! It reminded me of chili dogs I use to get at a dairy bar in Beverly, WV. My only complaint is that I wish the coleslaw was finer, but it had a wonderful flavor. Unfortunately the place will be closing in October 2024. So visit this gem while you can!

First and last time eating here. Food was ok. I was put off by the cook not wearing gloves. When we walked in, we did not feel welcomed, at all. The cashier seemed to have an attitude and never spoke nor asked to take our order. We got cones and she also didn't have on gloves. Ice cream was good. Cones tasted stale. We were put off with the overt political views from much of the decor. Agree or disagree, people JUST want to eat. Also, I asked for gravy, which I like on my fries. They didn't have any. What kind of (country) diner doesn't have gravy??

The Grill is somewhere between a diner and a take out restaurant. Order & pay at the counter, have a seat, and they bring your order to you. The food was very tasty. While it certainly is not a destination restaurant, we would return in if in the area again. Our food was very tasty, and I would like to explore more of their simple menu. But the little things can be a big difference. Like a slice of cheese on your burger that is not melted, just a cold piece of cheese (see photo)
