Ordering from here was a mess from the start. All of the positive reviews on Vinny’s were really the reason I followed through with the order.
I ordered a large Ziti pizza with Cheesy Garlic Bread, Tiramisu a Cannoli. Here are my issues:
#1. I was given three different arrival times over the phone; I had my wife call back to confirm and was told 25 minutes. It ended up coming out early so they threw it on top of the oven.
#2. I arrived and paid immediately. The girl behind the counter asked for whom I was picking up and I gave my name; she ran back to the kitchen and made the Cannoli...awesome, it’s fresh!
Waiting...waiting...
#3. Someone else comes up from the dining room, we’re asked to move from the “take out” section so they can ring the table up; sure, no problem...then they start chatting which leads to more waiting...
Waiting...waiting...
Finally one of the cooks sees me STILL standing there and asked my name which I obviously gave him; whoa hey, my food has been sitting on the oven the whole time!
#4. They grab the pizza down, ALMOST try to send me out and then began asking amongst themselves “what all did he have again? Did he have garlic knots or something? Same guy grabs down a bag with my Garlic bread/cheese They try to send me out and I said “Hey, is the Tiramisu in here?” Nope, they left that on the counter by the hand washing station. Finally, they pass everything to my wife and she remarks on how wet and soggy the bottom of the box felt.
#5. After we get home and pop the pizza open, we see they went absolutely crazy with the Ziti. It was basically a pile of giant Ziti noodles cut in the shape of a pizza slice. It also had mozzarella on it which was nice but no other cheese...just straight, cold, chewy mozzarella. The crust was also a massive disappointment being soggy from the watery tomato sauce and devoid of all flavor on its own.
#6. We crack open the Garlic bread, hoping it would be a better experience but nope, not at all. It was (and this is no exaggeration) just your average dime store, bottom of the rack, store brand “garlic bread” that you can get for $0.88 at any average grocery store but somehow, had even less garlic on it than those! It was just a half cooked, cheap piece of bread with a slice of mozzarella. They DID include a sample cup size of that runny tomato sauce so it’d slide down better but even that didn’t help.
#7. The Tiramisu was literally just soaked in old coffee...I don’t even know what to say about it; it was a soggy mess with pretty frosting chocolate chips. I’ve honestly had better at Chinese buffets. It certainly wasn’t the worst and I did like the part that wasn’t saturated; sadly I only noticed that soggy part until after I had made it through half my piece.
Here’s what I liked#
#1. Very clean dining room. The area that my Tiramisu was in was cluttered but not dirty.
#2. The wait staff was extremely friendly, courteous and looked nice. They seemed like they weren’t sure on what to do half of the time but that’s not their fault.
#3. The Cannoli was pretty good actually! Great crispy shell and the inside was creamy and sweet. It tasted slightly familiar to the frosting on top of the Tiramisu.
All and all, it’s pretty generic. I would suggest management have and participate in some training and learn to be more efficient workers and more effective communicators.
Please take a hint from Domino’s and overhaul your pizza...I’ve been to New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Detroit and Baltimore, had pizza at every one of them and I’m telling you, the pizza you guys sent out with me absolutely sucked. Everywhere has good and bad pizza of course but all of these people are doing you and your future customers a disservice by claiming that it’s “the greatest” or “the best of...flavors from home” etc.
Of course, to a certain degree, “good” is subjective. My dad always said “opinions are like excuses...everyone has them and they all stink.” His version was a little more colorful but you get the idea.
Thanks...
Read moreI wish I can give this place a ZERO! We gave this place a second time because the first time the service was horrible the second time was worse 😒. My husband and I decided to go here for lunch since we lived in the area, and the Vinnys 1 is at Newport News. Anyway when we got there the tables at the front door was very messy with the staffs food and stuff. A flat hair iron was plugged in! That alone I guess is very inappropriate in a restaurant. And when we finally got to order (after so long of waiting though only 1 table aside from us was there) I ordered a pasta and came with soup. My soup was cold but the bowl was hot, so it was microwaved so I did not bother with that anymore. In addition to my soup, I said chicken noodle soup when it arrived it surely did not looked like a chicken noodle soup like the other Vinnys has. It was very dark looking not appetizing. The lady that was serving us was very rude the way she will ask how are we while walking 🚶♀️ Hello???!!! Seriously! And when we told them about the soup while we were paying for our food she told my husband “oh you should’ve told us so we could’ve fixed it”. Like how? Did not even check on us properly.!
Vinnys needs to closed this location or change the staff! This could give them bad records.!
Btw we go to Vinnys in Newport News 3x a month so we...
Read moreWe were disappointed with our recent take out order from Vinny's. I placed an online order for a pepperoni pizza, half dozen wings, and half dozen garlic knots and was given an estimated time that the order would be ready. I arrived later than the estimated time and was told that our food wasn't ready and to circle around and jump back in the take out line. I ended up having to leave the window and get back in line a total of 4x. On the fourth time, I was asked to go find a parking spot and the food would be brought to us. Several other cars in line were having to do the same. When I was at the window the last time, my pizza was just being put in the oven. In total, we waited over an hour past the estimated ready time. The girls that were working were super sweet and apologetic and threw in a pack of cookies for our inconvenience. For around $50, we felt that the quality of food was not the best. The pizza crust is crunchy and a little cardboard-y. The garlic knots were slightly dry. The wings were good. I have been going to Vinny's since they opened this location and feel that the quality has been better in past years. There is a good selection on the menu, but the prices are a little high for...
