I really appreciate the prices and have often enjoyed coming here for bargains with my two young kids. It was a great place to go after my son was born, especially since my family is on a very very tight budget and could not afford to buy things otherwise.
There used to be some very friendly employees, too, including one really awesome lady who got to know my son by name and always greeted us and him when we shopped there. It warmed my heart that people cared that much about our family.
But recently (past couple of months), the customer service has started to really stink. I was reprimanded for letting my kids play with the toys throughout the store (apparently they had put up some "don't play with the toys" signs that being a busy mom, I failed to notice). They do have a really nice play area in the corner of the store that my kids will enjoy as a solution, but of course, this makes it challenging because I either have to leave both small kids there alone and try to shop or else take them with me and risk other issues.
Today I was told by one employee that I need to bring my stroller in the store because my toddler-aged son was curious and looking around. My stroller is terrible, has an awful turn radius, and it's big and bulky and won't travel well, especially in the clothing area where I planned to look, so I didn't bring it (was also not expecting to buy anything, just look at costumes, anyway). Meanwhile, I'm standing there trying to pay for items, and I was already really flustered trying to contain him and pay for my items at the same time. Instead of treating me like a very stressed out mom, I was being treated with a more condescending manner, like I was being punished for trying to shop there. I actually work really hard as a mom to teach my kids manners and not to grab at everything, so the comments and the way I was treated was really demeaning, to be honest.
Meanwhile, the employees were VERY friendly to other moms and kids, but we weren't even greeted with any friendly hi or hello -- in spite of my best efforts to smile and say hi to them! They just kept staring at my son like he was TROUBLE just because he's a 17-month-old boy. I guess toddlers, especially toddler boys, are not welcome there!
Just shocked that the employees are THAT concerned about children in their store that they would reprimand or make "suggestions" to the moms who are already frazzled enough trying to shop. I have no alternatives BUT to shop with my kids. I actually really love this store, just hate the way I have been treated there lately. I guess my son's cute Halloween costume will be the last thing I am able to buy from you, Pea...
Read morePea Soup is the best! I have been going there for years and love it. They have a big selection of childrenâs toys and equipment from birth to older kids. They have clothes, shoes and tons of accessories for the littles.
They also have a womenâs clothing and shoes section that is awesome. It is so convenient to be able to grab clothes for myself while shopping for and with my kids.
I also consign clothes and toys at Pea Soup. Itâs great to be able to take things my kids donât use anymore and get money to spend on new clothes or toys. I highly recommend Pea Soup to anyone with kids in their life. You can buy gifts for any occasion. They have a great selection of new toys and accessories, as well...
Read moreWas really excited to shop, itâs a very well put together store, very clean and lovely, my children- being the end of the day were not at their best so I had to cut it short, the prices seemed fair for the most part, my one complaint is as a mom with kids not having a public bathroom for at least little kiddos is hard.. there are other local childrens consignment shops that have bathrooms available and thatâs really really helpful for moms just trying to get some kid clothes shopping done. Even if there was âno public restroomsâ but they let children with emergencies in, Iâd totally be down for that. Instead of uprooting everyone, setting aside your items and walking to the store...
