My wife and I are on a road trip and we decided to get our favorite pit stop Waffle House, thinking the level of service and passion for serving hungry travelers would be the same here as in Florida, we are wrong.
To start, we both order the All Star breakfast with eggs over easy, waffles. Wife had bacon extra crispy, I had sausage. The sausage was room temp and dry but I didn’t complain and ate it. Wife’s bacon tasty like it was fried in oil that fish was fried in, we notice didn’t complain, still ate it. Our eggs came out not what we ordered. Didn’t complain, I worked in hospitality and i frequent Waffle House, so I gave the workers a level of respect. It’s just food and we were hungry.
When I tried to eat my waffles it was half cooked, batter was still moist, the wife’s hash brown was semi cooked and room temperature.
But the real reason I’m warning hungry travelers who are out of town is this.
I politely told the woman who was not our server (but I’m assuming was the shift manager) that our food was under cook. I told her this in good intention trying to make sure the next customer won’t get food poisoning. Her first quick response was “I can only take off the waffles”. NOT an apology for the food. (We never got an apology) we got a 2$ discount. I told her her I didn’t want a discount, and I wasn’t trying to complain. I was merely giving constructive criticism on the cooking ability of the staff. As this is something I can provide facts on with photos.
I can not provide evidence of the lack of empathy or shall I say indifference to people who look different from what they are use to seeing daily.
Side note* I was never interested in getting my money back, there was an energy from The staff that my wife and I received immediately when we walked in the door. We took the high road. Paid for food that was half cooked. Didn’t expect a apology because hey it is what it is. We just paid what we owed regardless of how we were treated.
I’m not out to call out names. So I didn’t ask. I just know the address of this specific Waffle House. And if your craving Waffle House. And are out of towner’s. Keep driving to the next Waffle House. Because this specific Waffle House is not the best of them. It’s an example of what our society should have left behind a long time ago.
Low key** I’m not trying to say the oblivious. I dislike tossing terms around defining members of our society, that’s we we walked away. This is just my warning to folks who are not local to the population circling this specific waffle...
Read moreAny other WH, I get a greeting the minute I walk in... only one table open but hadn't been clear of the previous occupants' dishes. One waitress running food to tables, while the others stand waiting for their orders. Two more groups of people come in - still no effort to clean the one... second table opens up and we go over and stand by it while a third opens... finally, the table is cleared of dishes and half wipe off. No offer of a menu. Finally order... watch as everything is done but the bacon which is added to our sandwiches but sits there while the person, who apparently is the only one who can put the sandwiches together, is over cleaning a waffle iron. We get our sandwiches and the bread is burnt. Not totally but enough to taste it. Already had to wait to long for a table to request a new one (we were traveling and had to get moving). My other half will eat about anything.. I ate what I could. Hashbrowns were good. Usually get 2 pickle slices but got a sliced off end. Waitress offer to refill coffee once but never asked how anything was or if we needed anything else. First time eating at this...
Read moreJust ate here and definitely won’t again, the first thing I noticed was two male employees working with the food had really long hair and it was neither pulled up or netted. One had a scruffy beard and it was exposed too. The bearded man had multiple coughing fits in the food area and didn’t cover his mouth or attempt to leave the grill area. The other man made something for a child and didn’t wear any gloves. The manager was standing there the whole time btw. The waitress was not understanding: two cheeseburgers with bacon, tomato, and mayo. I repeated it twice and as she was telling the cook wrong after writing it down, I had to call the cook over to tell them the correct order. The same waitress then asked me if I could get up in the middle of my meal and pay the bill so she could get her ticket in because she was about to leave…. I have never seen such a badly ran place in my life and I’m pretty traveled. This happened between 1pm -1:40pm in case anyone wants to look at the cameras for training purposes as...
