Good Belly Deli (Previously Yogurt Giant) — Restaurant in Vista

I’ve been going to Yogurt Giant since I was a kid. More recently when the owners told me they were selling so they could retire I was sad but optimistic. After meeting the new owner and eating there a couple times since the change over, I can say that I am impressed. This last time I noticed that she changed the name which made me a little sad but it makes a lot of sense because anyone who has never been to Yogurt Giant could pass it up not knowing that they have delicious sandwiches thinking it’s just a yogurt place. Sandwiches is what they are known for! She’s done a lot already to invest in the place to take care of what was 40 years of neglect to building. Let’s just say they were a lot of things that needed to be fixed. I like the new look I’m good with the name and the food is just as good. And well the previous owners put 3 ounces of meat she puts 5 ounces of meat! I got a pastrami sandwich combo with the pasta salad and a drink for $10. That’s a great deal in my book. Also something should change that I think it’s a good change is she has the option now to not have tuna in the pasta salad. I always thought it was such a weird thing that tuna was in the pasta salad at yogurt giant and now if you don’t like tuna in your pasta salad you don’t have to have it! Update Feb 2025: we made it back to town and hit this up one of our first stops. We have had such great sandwiches here and we tried the chili and pot roast soup. Delicious!!! Everything we’ve tried has been amazing.

Original: We’d give this spot 10 stars if we could!!! We were in town for a week in Dec and randomly found Good Belly Deli with some searching for what spots were in the area. Once we tried it we could not get enough!! The first time we got an Italian (swapped salami for turkey) and a Sloppy Joe, both on the sub rolls and the chili. Then we came back a second time a couple days later and got another Italian, a Meatloaf (off menu item) and a Club to share. The food was AMAZING!! We got chatting with Molly and learned a lot about their daily process, how everything is made fresh and just really enjoyed all the conversations over the couple times we went by. We definitely would recommend this place to anyone wanting a delicious sammich, soup, salad, wrap etc. Definitely 5 stars!!! If I could give 10 I’d give 10! We were up in the Vista area, and I was hungry so I decided to look for a good deli. Good Belly Deli had good reviews so so we thought we'd try it outhad good reviews, so we thought we'd try it out. Boy, are we glad we chose this place. I ordered the Turkey Avocado and Bacon on squaw, with cheddar cheese, and no lettuce. He got an Italian on a roll. Both were delicious. I would definitely drive out of the way to come to this place. The service is great and the people are super friendly.
