Valeries Taco Shop — Restaurant in Vista

Yesterday I went to Valerie’s Taco Shop for my lunch time since this is my (first visit) at this location.

I placed my order with Maryanne she suggested the number 3 Combo Plate it includes 2 cheese enchiladas stuffed in corn tortillas, with red sauce, shredded lettuce, refried beans with cheddar cheese, and Spanish rice. Everything in the number 3 Combo Plate was very delicious.

I also received 4 different kinds of chili sauces. Two of the green chili sauces had a mild flavor, one orange Siracha sauce was very Hot and too hot for me since I prefer a mild sauce. The last chili sauce was green and was also was very Hot. I still tried all of these sauces to see what they are like.

The Total Price was $8.47. I also bought a medium cup of Sprite Soda Pop. This cold drink was refreshing to drink yesterday because it was 93 degrees outside and very humid.

I sat outside underneath a large umbrella covering with a black table and red cushion black chairs.

Maryanne this woman cashier was very personable and friendly to me. Valerie’s Taco Shop is very clean. I saw Maryanne moping the floor and she also mopped the restroom floor. She wiped down the front counter with a disinfectant spray.

I was wearing a face mask before I walked into Valerie’s Taco Shop. All the customers were wearing face masks to comply with the COVID-19 Guidelines. I felt very safe eating at this location because Valerie’s Taco Shop is very clean and their Mexican Food...

I am so disappointed in this place! After reading some good reviews I decided to give it a try. Ordered a surf and turf burrito and it had literally only 1 shrimp in it the rest of the burrito was disgusting because it was drenched in some sort of watered down sour cream? Next the chicken enchiladas, they were so-so at least some decent chicken in them but so slopped together that I had to recreate them at home in order for them to be edible. The stuffed burrito, well the only thing edible were the 2 rolled tacos in it. This burrito was also slopped together and we didn't even eat it. I would have taken it back and tried to politely speak with someone there but by the time I got home and reassembled their mess of food it was already past closing time. Not to mention the fact that the girl who took my order was super rude to me! I was a first time customer, bee- bopped in there all happy to give them a try and she was a total buzz kill and ZERO help at all! She got mad at me because I paid with my card and hit the no tip button but had $1's in my hand for the tip jar that she didn't even acknowledge, what's a person supposed to do, I tried 🤷Well anyway, needless to say that was my first and last time at Valerie's taco shop! I've been getting food from Valerie's for quite awhile, we've had several time when they've got our order wrong, but that can happen anywhere. My problem this time is that the last time we were there, a cop was in front of us ordering and he said to the guy, do we still get the 4th burrito free when we order 3 burritos? The guy behind the counter said yes, so I asked if that was a special for just the cops, and he said no, it applies to everyone. Then we noticed that he gave the cop the 4th burrito for free. So this time we went there the first thing we asked the guy was if we buy 3 burritos do we get the 4th one for free, he said yes. We ordered 3 carni asada burritos and told a him I wanted a carnitas for my 4th one. He rang up the total and we were schocked when he said $38+ dollars. We told him that couldn't be right since they were only $6.75 each, he then said sorry it's only $28+. We then noticed that he had charged for the 4th burrito. We asked him why we got charge for it since we were told the 4th one was free. He asked us who told us that and we said you did right before we ordered. He said he didn't say that, but we both heard him say that last time we were there and this time. He said that was for if we bought 3tortilla shells we would get the 4th on free.
