January 22, 2017 Around 7:00pm. It is raining out. There is no one infront of or behind in the drive through line. Also no one inside this location. The place is a ghost town. Absolutely NO ONE ANYWHERE. I pull up to the menus, the first of which is missing half, probably due to the horrible weather. I proceed to the second menu, which is the one that you order from. I politely ask the guy that comes on the speaker if we can have a moment. He says sure, let me know when you are ready. I feel like I should note that I have several members of my family in the car. The youngest of which has a disability that often makes decision making difficult. I am aware we are taking longer than usual, but still there is NO ONE ANYWHERE. At this point I apologize when the guy comes back on the speaker and I tell him we still need a moment. About 30 seconds later a woman comes on the speaker. She has a horrible tone of voice, clearly irritated that we are taking too long. "Do you know what you want?" I apologize again. She immediately interjects, "If you are going to be taking this long, you need to wait at the first menu so other cars can get their food." I look behind us and there is still NO ONE ANYWHERE. I tell her, "but there is no one waiting." And she says, "Well then, now you know for next time." There are two glaringly obvious problems with her actions. The first of which is her assumption that I am making people wait. That I am such a selfish idiot, that I do not know how to look in my rearview mirror and check for cars. That I would purposefully make others wait. I would also like to add that even if I had waited at the first menu, we wouldn't have been able to figure out what to eat. The majority of the menu items are on the menu with the ordering speaker. So, in this woman's opinion, I should have sat at the menu that was missing half of itself and then get binoculars to see the rest, while the non-existent cars behind me could go Infront of me.
Secondly, her attitude about the situation. I understand food service can be frustrating. I've worked in food service. But the customer should always be treated with politeness and patience. And I in no way was rude to either worker. I apologized several times. Yet, she felt the need to come on the speaker and treat me like I was a moron. Using a condescending tone, clearly asserting her authority as a fast food restaurant manager.
And yes, this woman was the manager. So glad to know that Jack in the Box sees fit to promote to management people who find it acceptable to treat their customers like that. What a great example for the team she is supposed to be leading. Not to mention loosing the company money (granted a drop in the bucket for Jack in the Box). But, if this is common practice I imagine a significant amount of money is lost annually by unfit employees such as this.
It should go without saying that I drove away without ordering. And as we're driving away I look at the pick up window and all the workers are just standing there chatting. The manager lady saw me look at them and backed up so I couldn't see her anymore. Definitely not the behavior of someone who truly thought her actions were justified.
For anyone who has a sibling or relative that requires extra support and nurturing to get through their day, you understand why having to drive away without food and explain that we would need to decide on something else could be a big deal.
Moral of the story? Never assume you fully understand what someone's situation is. Treat others with respect.
I would like to think that writing this would change anything. I know it won't. I'll just have to take solice in the fact that me and my family will not be eating at Jack in the Box again, despite its...
Read moreYour Saturday crew is horrible at least for today. (4/20/19) Went through the drive thru and the woman over charged me for my food. even though it was extra food I don't need 5 large french fries with my simple order. I just want what I ordered. 2 number 5's both extra pickles (1 burger had nothing on it.) 1 large curly fry 1 medium fry 4 tacos 1-7p.c jalapeno poppers 1 large strawberry lemonade 1 medium strawberry lemonade ( Medium lemonade for both)
Nothing on the tacos.
1 burger had nothing on it at all
Total : 3 curly fries (Large) 3 regular fries(Large)
Went back in the the store and told her I want my money back cuz I didn't order all this food. I don't need the difference in cakes or dessert or come back a different day. Let alone 3 people walked out cuz the KIDS where to busy talking and saying sorry not my job. I got my money back, but when I'm in the drive thru and tell the lady to stop interrupting and listen to my order maybe you would've gotten it right. I haven't eaten jack in the box in along time but when I do I gotta...
Read moreDON'T order the bonus Jack. It's a complete rip off scam. They show a picture of three patties larger than the bun. In truth the patties are paper thin. If you hold them up to light, you can see through them. Referring to them as "bonus Jack's" is just intentionally deceitful.
I normally wouldn't rate a location based on corporate directives, but after explaining why I wanted a refund, the manager agreed to make it to my expectations based on the picture shown. AND then spent the next two minutes arguing with the cook staff who didn't want to make it that way. Those cooks should be fired before they lose more customers, because they sure lost me for life after I had to ask for my refund a second time since clearly the cooks had no intention of doing what they were asked and walked out their doors for my very last time. I wish I could give them a lower rating.
Have gone back again a few months later and same problem. Nothing changed except...
