La Gordita Mexican Food — Restaurant in Vista

This may have been the last time we frequent this restaurant. In the past the orders were very plentiful and delicious. One of my favorites was the Corn Quesadilla. Today the quesadilla lacked the significant amount of cheese that made it a quesadilla. It now also costs more, all of the dishes are more. I understand the need to charge more, however if you are charging more and putting in less that is not right. So, I proceeded to speak with the attendant and he referred me to one of the lady cooks. I was in for a rude surprise, not only was she challenging me but she told that if I wanted more cheese I have to pay. I told her I already paid for cheese to be in the quesadilla. She took the quesadilla, opened and stuck her finger IN the quesadilla and said, here is the cheese, pressing on a few strings of cheese. She then asked if I wanted more cheese for a fee or my money back. I was disgusted and said my money back as you just put your finger in my food. To which she answered my finger is clean. I said, ok I will not be coming back and seems you don't care about your customers. We were long time customers until today. Good luck to the Customers! I will no longer be referring any more friends or patronizing the once welcoming place! COVID is not an excuse to lower quality...

Was early and waiting on VFW to open. Seen a small shop for Mexican food and I was a bit hungry. Thought I would order my standard issue....Carne Asada burrito plain...that means meat only. I really like to taste flavors of just the meat. Now, I will occasionally pour some sauce on it to spice it up. I also ordered some fries. Food came quickly and prepared as I requested. Now, I have eaten many, many burritos as I ordered here, so I would like to think i know a good meat burrito. I was a bit disappointed as the meat seemed quite dry, and for the lack of a better word, a bit sandy. Not that there was sand in the meat..it is my description. I am not sure what cut of meat is used here..but even with saturating the meat with the three different sauces...the odd meat flavor that was dry and "sandy" was at the forefront. I am not sure if it is always like this..but if so, I will move on... Oh yes, this is a "Pepsi" fountain location....no coke, or diet coke in cans in the...

I was in the area with my wife and thought we should try this place (ratings convinced us). I got the the two gorditas combo, chicharon and adobada, and my wife got rolled tacos and carne asada gordita. We were disappointed. The gorditas didnt taste hand made, and they were flavorless. I tried enhancing the flavor with salsa but nothing. Th beans and rice did no justice either. My wife told me her carne asada gordita had no flavor and the rolled tacos were bland. COMO ES POSIBLE? I tried one rolled taco and she was right.

We gave this place a try. We were going with the expectation that this place was going be good, but we left dissapointed. I will stick with El Paisa Mex in Escondido were their gorditas are hand made and packed...
