My daughter and I had breakfast here this morning for International Women’s Day. My daughter had chocolate chip pancakes and I had the cherry kijafa crepes and both were fantastic!! We noticed they were short handed, with only one waitress, but the manager and the bus person chipped in and we had a lovely breakfast….except for the “Karen’s” sitting near us who complained about everything, from the botched plastic surgeries of their friends, to one of them receiving their breakfast two minutes before the other, and anything else that made them unhappy…their list was long and we had to hear it. We listened as the waitress apologized for the delay. She was polite and sincere, but when we got up to the manager to pay, one of these women was berating the waitress and the manager, claiming that they were rude, inept, and shouldn’t be running a business. The vicious look on “Karen’s” face was beyond reason. I’ve seen this behavior on TV before but this was my first time seeing someone make an absolute mountain out of Nothing!! As soon as she left we could see how upset the waitress and manager were. We told them the woman was completely out of line and how much we enjoyed our meal and how wonderful the service was. We gave the waitress a nice tip and we even tipped the manager for the way he handled the lunatic. As we were doing this “Karen” came back in because she forgot her water bottle, heard us praising their services, and sneered at us. “Oh for the gift that God would give us, if we could see ourselves as others see us.” No amount of plastic surgery can fix a menacing face. As the women pulled out in their Mercedes, “Karen” waved and made a childish face at us. People…have you ever been a server? Worked in a commercial kitchen? Delt with supply issues? My daughter works at Starbucks and gets yelled at everyday and it’s not right. Times are Still hard, businesses are still struggling to find employees, and still dealing with supply issues. Be patient, be pleasant, and try to make the world a better place. It’s not all about you! I highly recommend The Original Pancake Restaurant in...
Read moreThis review is mostly about the table next to us and their service or lack there-of. Our very first and very last visit. Three stars for the food, average sized portions considering the price. This was our first visit, we were about to leave soon as we walked inside because there was a customer asking for service and complained of waiting ten minutes to even order their drinks. We must've gotten lucky because within 17 minutes of being seated we were already digging in. Halfway through our breakfast I over heard the couple next to us talking about how it had been a long time since they've seen their server and they have a small baby. It became quite awkward after that especially since we arrived after they did. I have had my coffee refilled twice and by the third visit from our server whom had our check in hand I let her know the family next to us was in need of their server. The server who followed up to our neighbors exclaimed though she was not their server she would check on their food (super awkward at this point) the wife proceeded to ask the server if they could at least get their first coffee refill since it had been 40 minutes after they had placed their order. After the same server returned to refill their coffee she explained to the couple that because they ordered an omelette the wait is an additional 15-20 minutes. The wife begged the server to bring the baby's order (a single fried egg) immediately as he was being fussy. At this point I could no longer enjoy myself here, I felt guilty because we were already eating and we didn't even have a child. Upon leaving our table the couple next to us finally received their breakfast. We paid $40 for two originals one coffee and one 12 Oz orange juice (their large size) we will definitely not be...
Read moreI’ve been going to this location since it opened. My now 11 year old son spent almost every birthday having breakfast here. New owners bought it and that was it. Terrible. The food once my absolute favorite - terrible. service - unfortunately the absolute worst I’ve ever experienced. waited forever for anything at all. To be seated to get our orders taken to get our food to get our check. It seems as though they have no clue what they’re doing. I have no idea why they bought a restaurant. I gave them a chance. At least a few times, but I will never return to this location. I actually will drive to the location in Rancho Santa Fe to receive the quality food and service I’ve known for 20+ years. Which is a good 40 minutes out of my way. I’m not entirely sure what happened but at the last time I was there. I noticed every single server and hostess were gone. I asked the female owner where everyone went and she relayed “they all quit together”. She relayed this in a way that implied they were at fault and potty her they all left them alone. all it told me was something horribly wrong was going on for people that worked in a location for years and all old and new staff simultaneously quit. I never returned. And I don’t plan onto. I’m immensely disappointed. I noticed many staff ended up at the rancho Santa Fe location - so clearly it wasn’t that they wanted to leave the restaurant it self but rather the location. New ownership has a lot to learn and I hope they take the necessary steps towards learning how to treat their staff, as well as learning skills in management, leadership, and customer...
