First time here! I always take my time scoping out a new place that I visit. I check out the products, listen to the employees, check out the décor and generally look around to get a feel for what the store is all about.
I was very happy with this restaurant/deli and I will definitely go back. The food that I did try, I got a slice of vegetable New Your Pizza and my wife got the Turkey Sandwich. They were both excellent. The pizza crust was excellent. It was crispy and perfect for that style of pizza. It was jam packed with ingredients and well worth the price. The sandwich which my wife got was also very tasty. She enjoyed it. The price it right inline with this type of restaurant. This is not a Subway! If you want that type of low quality meat and bread, then this is not the place for you.
You go here for something special & unique and with the ambiance and pleasant staff, it makes for a pleasant time. I did study all of the food in the cases and it smelled and looked authentic to me. I'm Italian and know good Italian food and looking forward to going back and try some of the other authentic Italian dishes.
If you are looking to make a traditional Italian Antipasto Tray, which is now called a "charcuterie platter" then this would be the place. I often set trays like this up and have to go all over the area to find any kind of good salami and cheese to make the tray.
Traditionally when an Italian family has a guest, they always take out cheeses, olives, and salads to have something to eat. No one comes into an Italian house without being fed! The next tray I need to make I will for sure go here.
I can go on and on because I recognized so many traditional Italian items and packaged products on the shelves. There is a nice selection of wine and beer to choose from. They even have fountain drinks and other beverages.
The bathrooms are clean and there are two different sets of restrooms. The ones through the video gaming which kids are not supposed to use and another set, down the stairs.
There is a limited amount of parking in the front and more in the back. This is really close to the Volo Museum, so you can make a day of it with the family.
I will try and update the post after I go back and try more items. Oh yeah! The employees are exceptional and willing to talk about their passion of food and what they make. You won't find that at any sub shop or run of the mill restaurant. Passion is what we all want from someone making food that we eat. Cook with love...

Before making my way to order, I browsed the grocery part and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of pastas, wines and olives ( mind you they offer far more than just these items but I was already impressed with these).
Once I made my way to the deli half, I admired the presentation of an array arrangement of beautifully cut fresh meats. Having some experience in the meat industry, I will always appreciate a superb cut and presentation.
The lunch menu is simple and smart. Classic sandwiches, soups and salads but the ingredients truly carry these items to another level.
I loved the set up of tables. Although the tables are separated for it's respective diners the set up allows you to feel you're eating at one's dinner table. Again, very welcoming and homey.
We had the porchetta, chicken breaded sandwich with french fries and cheddar broccoli soup.
I did not want to share a bite!
The chicken is not a thin cut. It's a delicious, juicy slice and breaded to perfection. The Mariana sauce is seasoned so good every drop that fell from the sandwich was used for the fries.
The soup is a must have, you can't compare it to anything else.
The porchetta sandwich was refreshing and not greasy. Paired wonderfully with the soup.
This place is filled with wonderful smells and pure happiness.
I can see this place truly becoming a staple in the community.
Will definitely be making another trip for the chicken.
If you're not in the neighborhood, make the trip, you...
Read moreSince we were in the area and after reading reviews from other Yelpers,we decided to stop in on a Saturday for a late lunch.
There is parking in the front and back of their building. The inside has table seating plus a butcher shop selling fresh cut meats, cheeses, sausages and cold cuts.
The layout is somewhat confusing as to where you order and pay..basically if someone is behind one of the registers, that is who you go to.
We ordered one of their gourmet sandwiches ..The Northside Johnny . It was very good but I would have liked less chimichirri and more porchetta. Sandwiches are a little pricey as you do not get chips or a small side salad. My wife had their Italian Potato Salad which was very good. They don't have many food options if you want Gluten Free.
They bring the food to your table and the wait time was not too long which gave us time to browse.
They offer Daily Specials as well as salads, soups burgers and desserts.
There was a constant stream of customers supporting this local establishment which is always good to see.
We ended up buying a few packages of their homemade sausages and snack stix.
I feel if the staff would have been a bit more helpful in explaining their ordering system and their menu and daily specials were all listed in one area, this would be a 5 star...
