No matter how Joey responds to this review, believe this story, no ifs, ands or but. I purchased a 1958 Ford Skyliner from Volo auto sales. (Joey was my sales person) I watched the video closely prior to purchase and made an observation that warranted me to call the sales department prior to my decision to purchase. I questioned Joey about the rear deck of the vehicle. In the presentation video the hardtop roof was demonstrated. When the cycle was complete I could see (on the video) that the rear deck wasn’t closed completely and did not sit flush or line up with the lines of the car. (See Volo auto sales sold inventory video) my question to Joey was, was the retract switch not held long enough or does it not sit flush? Joey answered immediately with its fine, it’s flush and the top works. I voiced my observation and concern based on the video and was told again, it’s fine. I wanted reassurance so, I asked Joey to check again and that I would call back again the next day. The following day I called Joey back. He confirmed that the top closed and worked properly. Based on his answer I purchased the car. let me repeat, none of what you have read so far has been exaggerated nor have I embellished or omitted anything. The day the car arrived, I looked into the delivery truck and could see the rear deck was just as it appeared in the Video, not closed nor lined up. Once the vehicle was removed from the delivery truck I physically went over to the driver’s side rear deck and confirmed, it was not closed properly. I was not happy to see this, especially since I voiced my concern PRIOR to my decision to purchase. I then tried to retract the top. It did not retract. It groaned, shook but after the rear deck opened the top would not unlock from the forward anchors above the windshield. I called Joey. I was told to give it throttle to increase the voltage from the generator. I did. After a few tries of pushing the switch between retractable position to top up position the top finally released. The top folded into the trunk and the deck closed with the same gap and misalignment described. That was the 1st and last time the top ever worked! Let’s go over a few things. The car was represented in the video as being rotisserie restored. Comments were made in the video by Volo that it even looked show quality (engine bay) and that a restoration like the one of this vehicle would probably cost near or upwards of $100k Here’s a few things I found out once I took the car to a shop that specializes in auto restoration. There was a gas leak at the point where the fuel line exits the fuel tank. The leak was landing gasoline on the exhaust pipe. When the steering wheel was turned it made popping noise and bangs. Upon inspection it was found the the front end was improperly positioned and the weight of the front end was resting on a single nut and bolt. It was discovered that the car was in a collision. Guess where? The rear driver side. The same side as the misaligned deck. Upon inspection, the shop noted body repair evidence and that the rear driver side fender was pushed forward too much to ever have allowed the deck to close properly. How could Joey say everything was good, closed properly and operated fine when it could never have physically because the space for the rear deck to close was never large enough due to improper body work. I am not a perfectionist, I have purchased from Volo before. I expect a 65 year old car (even a restored vehicle) to have issues that would need to be addressed. I am willing to repair certain things without hesitation like brakes, exhaust leak etc. but, I clearly voiced a concern about the top and quite fry not told the truth. Nor was it ever disclosed that the vehicle was hit from the rear. I asked for compensation (partial) I am a fair person. The est. repair bill $15k I should not be expected to pay for a repair for an item that I questioned and was told was in proper order. They refuse to provide any...
Read moreI’m going to warn you, don’t do business with this place. They’re all about the money, and not customer relationships. The Sales Manager Joey Schaffer is one of the worst I’ve ever seen in the business. They will drastically underestimate your trade and the second you try to negotiate its their way or the Highway. It’s extremely insulting. These guys offered 12k on a lower mile, pristine and all original ‘75 Firebird that is an original numbers matching, 9.5/10 paint, undercarriage, engine compartment, 350, PW/PL/tilt/AC/tach/Rear defrost car. See pics. The same car was sold 3 days later for 20 ON A SHORT SALE because I wanted to build a new house. Actual value is closer to 22-24k, 2 years ago, even more now! Then they did the same thing again, on a real nice 77 Z28 4 speed car! They were $12,000 under what the car brought in and no return calls or emails. Again, their way or the Highway and this Z28 had over 20 grand worth of work done to it recently with most of that in engine/parts receipts! This isn’t leaving some meat on the bone, because they have to turn a profit. It’s insulting and distasteful. So much for building a good customer relationship.
When I told him that his offer was insulting his reply was even more insulting. He wrote me an email not even mentioning my concerns and breaking down the Firebird deal like I was born yesterday and adding fluff to the deal that wasn’t even in our negotiations, like transport costs which he didn’t need to add as I had that covered. I confronted him and he challenged me to come to the store! How mature. I have all this in email.
Look, there’s places out there that want your business and really want you to return. As a guy who worked in GM and Mercedes dealerships for over 17 years, repeat sales are what keep salesmen from pounding the pavement and the keyboard. It’s what really pays their bills. Choose a dealer that will spend the time to make a deal work and not lie or insult you in...
Read moreHello folks who are reading this review. My name is Dale and I have just purchased my second vehicle from Volo Auto Museum. I want to be fair and subjective about my experience with the Volo employees that participated in the sales process and inspections. I worked with both the sales manager, Joey, and Erik the other sales representative. Erik represented Volo on the first purchase I made and Joey represented on the just concluded second purchase. Both guys were difficult at times to work with. The communication lacked at times from them to me. Don't assume they will be prompt to give you important information. The most common response I got was "I'll keep you posted/informed" and it seems like all I ever heard were the crickets. The thing is both guys were doing their jobs the way ownership wanted it done. I call it tuff but fair. The car I purchased had a minor mechanical issue that I picked up on in the video Volo made about the car. I pointed out the third brake light appeared to be not working and the shop was notified of the observation. They found the plug for the light had come unconnected and it was reconnected. Easy fix. Remember folks everything in life is driven by personalities and we don't always mesh well with the folks we are interacting with. Volo Auto Museum employees are well trained and they represent the company well. I thank the employees for treating me respectfully and I hope my attitude working them was equally...
