We stopped in here due to a recommendation from a coworker to make sure and stop in to the college station location when we dropped our son off. That location had a line down the street so we weren't able to visit as recommended. So imagine our surprise when we saw a location on our way home; we were excited to try this out. We figured the free 1/2 pint of queso was a plus so we were excited to use that as well.. got to the counter to order and presented our queso coupon... the gentleman working the register said he didn't know how to use that so he went to get his manager Anna who immediately rushed to his aide and said "We don't take that, we don't take any coupons at all." I said; " I don't understand, this is your current yelp offer to bring in new customers." She once again said "NO, we are not accepting any types of coupons at all," without any further explanatory attempt to accommodate, and then she just walked off. At this point I decided to choose the high road so I just said ok. Then we went to find a table to sit and of course ALL tables were dirty. Not to mention when going to get your drink you're met by a large pile of dirty trays and overflowing garbage cans. Once they brought out our order, it was wrong. Two of the tacos were not supposed to have onions and they did. They also informed us that they were out of corn tortillas so everything was being served on flour which was fine. Overall this was a pretty awful experience cultivated mainly by TERRIBLE management, cleanliness, and poor service. DEFINITELY DO NOT RECOMMEND this location.... KEEP...
Read moreWhat's not to like about a Texas college town (Waco, San Marcos, Bryan/College Station) chain that offers tacos 24/7? Even during the current pandemic, you can go in for a taco anytime you want.
The menu is pretty similar to a lot of the newer taco chains. The big difference is that one taco here will fill you up quite well, especially with a side. Both times I visited this location over the last weekend, I had the same thing -- the Fuego A-Go-Go. (Steak, fried mushrooms, bacon, queso -- and I had them leave off the guac.) I had a side of fries and a soft drink. The taco compares exceptionally well to any of the other taco chains and I liked the option of fries. Even though the salsa bar was closed as a health measure, they were willing to bring any condiments you wanted. I liked their charred salsa for it's comfortable level of warmth combined with a roasted taste.
I have a couple of other notes to consider. First, the staff here is beyond friendly and willing to please. When they brought me my order, they apologized for their lack of ketchup and offered to bring me either ranch or BBQ sauce. (Trust me, their BBQ sauce is worth it.) And the drinks are interesting. If you're familiar with the Coca-Cola freestyle machines, they have the Pepsi equivalent.
Long story short (and I hope Fuego is listening): Austin is also a college town and we need this stellar option...
Read moreWe always stop of Fuego when we are in Waco. My daughter gets the Dr Pepper Cowboy and I get the Sweet Caroline. I would buy a vat of that sauce if they sold it like that. We were there to visit this weekend and stopped in twice. My daughter got the beans but said they were bland which was surprising. I also normally get a brownie, I did this trip as well. They are huge and have chunks of chocolate and you can taste the cinnamon. Except this time they were extremely dry, like overcooked. I thought maybe it was a bad batch so got another on our second trip and again it was dry. Hopefully it was just a thing this weekend. I really look forward to our yearly visit. Also, I always read on the menu to ask about the Barbacoa but forget to ask when I get to the window. I wish if they had it, they would put it on the menu. The drive thru wait times was really long, and we sat there for quite a while with the window closed before someone acknowledged we were there. The lady that opened the window had beautiful purple hair and nails and was really sweet but it would have been nice to at least been told they were cooking our order and it would be a moment or something. But even if the service was rotten, it would be worth it for those tacos. I would walk ten miles barefoot for those tacos. Best...
