Rudy’s ‘Country Store’ and Bar-B-Q If you’re looking for a no-fuss, Texas-style barbecue experience with a rustic charm, Rudy’s ‘Country Store’ and Bar-B-Q is the spot. From checkered tablecloths to self-serve condiments and a cafeteria-style ordering system, it’s all about the food—and Rudy’s delivers on that front. The Breakdown of My Meal: • Moist Brisket (aka Fatty Brisket) – Smoked overnight and seasoned in true Rudy’s fashion, this was exactly as described—moist. Maybe too moist for my personal taste, as I prefer less fat. That’s on me, not Rudy’s. Next time, I’ll stick with the leaner cut. Verdict: Good, but I’d opt for regular brisket. • Jalapeño Sausage – A solid German-style sausage, made with half beef, half pork, plus spices and jalapeños for a kick. The snap on the casing was great, and the spice was just right—enough to wake up the taste buds without overpowering. Verdict: A must-try if you like a little heat. • Creamed Corn – This was hands down the MVP of the meal. Sweet, creamy, and rich, with whole kernel corn in a sauce made from heavy cream, parmesan, and Rudy’s special blend of seasonings. If you only get one side, make it this one. Verdict: Absolute perfection. • Rudy’s Beans – Pinto beans slow-cooked with brisket and Rudy’s BBQ sauce. A little spicy, a little smoky, a little tangy—these are not your average barbecue beans. Verdict: A great supporting player to the meal. • Peach Cobbler – A warm, cinnamon-infused, baked-fresh-daily dessert with sweet peaches and a crispy, caramelized crust. It wasn’t the best cobbler I’ve ever had, but it definitely satisfied the craving for something sweet to round out the meal. Verdict: A cozy, comforting classic. Overall Rating: (5 Stars) Rudy’s doesn’t try to be fancy—it’s Texas BBQ, done right. The brisket was exactly what it promised to be, the sausage had a great flavor, and that creamed corn? I’d go back just for that. Next time, I’ll skip the fatty brisket in favor of the leaner cut, but overall, this was a solid barbecue experience. Would I go back? Absolutely. Pro Tip: Don’t sleep on the creamed corn. Seriously.

While in Waco, we wanted to get good barbecue. A few different people recommended Rudy’s. Conveniently located off the highway. Plenty of parking on any side of the restaurant. Gas station is attached in case you need to fill up before leaving. They have their own country store when you walk in. You are able to get glass bottles of soda, or a fountain cup that you can refill. The meats are ordered by half pound or pound. Lots of sides and desserts. We ordered the moist brisket, pulled pork, and jalapeño sausage. The best hands-down was the pulled pork. Very moist and tasty. The brisket was good, but I have had better. It was not dried out which was a positive. The jalapeño sausage was also very good. Wish I had ordered one more link. After tasting the pulled pork and brisket, I tried it with a little bit of their sauces. Both sauces were good, but I preferred the spicier version. Gave it a little more of a kick.

Not impressed. Granted I’m rarely a fan of mass produced bbq, but this was embarrassing for the name of Texas bbq. We got a brisket sammich, spare ribs, chicken, Cole slaw, potato salad, and iced teas. Brisket and chicken were food, but the rib was just bad. It tasted like bland turkey. Good bite to it but almost no rub and there was little no NO smoke flavor. Hence the lack of smoke ring in the picture. I’m fairly certain these ribs were boiled or cooked in the oven. For $40 I would have expected better. With that said folks, I live near Allen TX and the Rudy’s there has AMAZING breakfast tacos. So I can only hope those are good at this location. Hopefully this was just a bad batch of ribs, but if not shame on you Rudy’s.

Food great, needs a few fixes, potato is still raw to the skin, the brisket portions are mixed up as one meat considered two meat when served, the corn in the cob looks like parasites live in the corn in the cob, look old and bad. I love this place, how did customer service get out of hand with intimidation or racial treatment, customer service is about attending the customer chin-up, not down and depressed you work here like your entitled to luxury and power. In this life you got to learn to enjoy the journey, being retired, and seeing america, the more I see Americans treat Americans like trash, no reason why anyone should be afraid, to speak to anyone, if your ignored raise your voice to get attention, we as Americans no longer make sure we all have coordination. No matter what I will always be coming back, this place is my favorite, Rudy bar b q is the best, One year ago I came here, I was left wishing to order a second potato, the team work can not remain in scared to communicate mode, you got to be vocal and say hey, like land before time talking to spike, or long foot. You just got to speak up, be yourself, in today's society as adults we no longer help the younger generation to speak up, work hard, and formulate a game plan. We as adults need to focus on helping the young generation embrace better skills, before we loose america or the places we enjoy being at. Prayers go out to my favorite place and all employees at...

I had an incredible experience with Rudy’s Bar-B-Q in Waco, Texas, thanks to Managing Partner Scott Floyd. Earlier this evening, I encountered an issue with my order. When I was able to return, Scott was there to listen and hear me out completely. He went above and beyond to not only address my concerns but also to explain how the situation could be handled better in the future. His professionalism and kindness helped me see things from their perspective as well, which I greatly appreciated.

Scott also had another manager with him—a Hispanic gentleman with glasses—whose name I unfortunately didn’t catch. He was just as kind and attentive, which made the experience even better. It’s clear that the team at Rudy’s genuinely cares about their customers and strives to make sure every interaction is a positive one.

The entire interaction was so pleasant and respectful that it restored my faith in great customer service. Rudy’s Bar-B-Q has always been a favorite of mine, and this experience has only solidified my loyalty.

Thank you, Scott, and the Rudy’s team, for showing that there are still good people in the world, doing their best to make things right. I will definitely continue to enjoy your fantastic food and...
