A Spicy Surprise in Waconia: My First Taste of Sizzle Street
As someone who’s dabbled in a variety of cuisines, I’ve always found myself hesitant when it comes to Indian food—not out of dislike, but simply because it was never my go-to. So when I stumbled upon Sizzle Street in Waconia, Minnesota, I didn’t have high expectations. Let’s be honest—Waconia isn’t exactly known for a bustling international food scene. But what I discovered was nothing short of a culinary gem, the kind you’d expect to find in a foodie haven like Minneapolis or Chicago.
From the moment I walked in, I was taken aback—in the best way. The ambiance was warm, modern, and surprisingly upscale. With its sleek bar and sophisticated decor, the vibe leaned more toward a high-end steakhouse than a traditional Indian restaurant. And that was just the beginning.
We started with a shareable platter of appetizers, and every bite offered something unique. But the standout? The shrimp curry—absolutely divine. Rich, flavorful, and cooked to perfection, it’s the kind of dish that lingers in your memory long after the meal ends.
And then there was the naan. I’m a huge fan of naan to begin with, so when I saw they offered a jalapeño-stuffed version, I had to try it. It lived up to the restaurant’s name—sizzling hot and packed with flavor. That naan alone was worth the visit.
If I had one small gripe, it would be the chai tea, which arrived a little lukewarm for my taste. But honestly, it was a minor hiccup in an otherwise stellar experience.
What truly set Sizzle Street apart, though, was the hospitality. The staff was friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm. They checked in just enough to make sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing.
By the end of the meal, I found myself wanting more—not just another serving, but a repeat visit. I’m so glad I didn’t pass this place by. It reminded me of the joy in trying something new and the delicious surprises that can be found in the most unexpected places.

Read moreOverall this Indian spot is a must have if you're in the area and honestly is the best Indian place I have had in all of the Midwest (and I have been to over 10)
Let me explain my delights (what I liked) and my tropes (what I didn't like) and any other thoughts I had. Delights: The food The food was quite delicious. Like really really good. It was fresh and authentic and really filled my mouth with wonderful flavors. I feel like this place is the best Indian food I have had in a while. Seriously. I forgot what we all got but look at the pictures and you can see how good the food looks. The smell The food smells so good that I had to include it in the delights because it's an incredible smell The service The guys that help you with your food and table are so kind and generous. Our group wanted to do traditional family style Indian food with their dishes and the waiters quickly accommodated us. Our waiter was really nice.
Tropes: The AI art. This place, very weirdly, uses AI art in the restaurant to decorate. I am not a big fan of AI art because it takes away from actual artists or real memorabilia. That is a personal preference but you understand the point. The atmosphere in the restaurant Inside the restaurant, it feels very bland for an Indian restaurant. I think that it needs some more decor and more things to look at. The mango mousse sponge cake I heard online that this mango mousse cake was gonna be amazing so I ordered it. It was okay at best. Don't get me wrong, our actual food was incredible but the mango mousse cake was really meh. It didn't have a good mango flavor and was pretty bland. It was spongy and whoever baked the sponge part of the cake did a really nice job but the flavors weren't there.
This being said this restaurant was still incredible, especially for being in Waconia MN. Definitely would recommend to go...
Read moreUpdate- I come here often but I am so sad by the horrible service I got from Guri today. She forgot my lemon that I asked for with my water. She said we don’t have butter chicken but then a cook came out and said do you want butter chicken or (whatever she forced us to order and said it tasted like butter chicken). We asked for butter chicken and he happily made it. The service from her was so bad and on my friends birthday of all days! I have never had an issue here but Guri needs an attitude adjustment or needs to work in the back and not be around customers. She also came and threw our bill with us and didn’t ask if we wanted it separate or anything…
Original review- I came here for dinner with my husband, and it was a great experience. The service was absolutely amazing. I am a little sad though because I feel like when I got to go food from here the portion was larger so that was a little sad for me. The food itself was really amazing though and I will definitely be back. I love this place. The butter, chicken and garlic naan...
