I posted the below review on Oma's FB page and they blocked me for sharing my experience. They can't block me here so I'll share again! I'm so extremely dissatisfied with your restaurant/ bakery. I Drive from Baxter today, Friday June 14th about 12:45 pm for lunch. Not one loaf of bread, pastry case was empty except for a handful of things that were not pleasing to the eye. was going to order lunch anyway. I asked for an iced Caramel Latte and my bf ordered hot coffee. Mine tasted like lukewarm milk with a little coffee. No Caramel or flavor and 5 nearly melted ice cubes. we were about to order and my bf wanted the special which was a salad and quiche. when he asked for French and Blue Cheese dressing, they only dressing they have is a house vinegarette which he doesn't like. By this point we were so disgusted we said we're not ordering. The waitress just walked away. I didn't drink the latte and went to the counter to check out. I told the German owner how disappointed I was and that this is the 2nd time I've come there and no bakery after all they show on their FB page. he didn't want to hear what I said just made excuses that they were sold out, Lada dada.. No apology or anything and still charged me over $7.50 for the coffee that I couldn't drink. I'm done with this place and I'm not coming back!!! I've told a lot of people to join their FB page and told them how good everything looks. Not sure where they get the pics from but it's nothing like I've seen the 2 times I've been there. they won't see me a 3rd time, that's for sure!!! Take my advice and save yourself the trip! I would like to add that nothing I stated on my review is false. A good business would not have charged for the latte that I couldn't drink, at the very least. I never made a scene there or was rude in any way. I shared the exact same comment as above on their fb page on other comments on their postings. Their page doesn't allow you to post your own comment. Hmmmmm makes me wonder why! My point wasn't about that they sold out of baked goods, my point was that it was only noon hour on a summer Friday and they were to be opened through dinner but apparently had not made enough to carry them half way through the day. They post wonderful pics of fabulous looking bakery items to draw people in yet when you get there, the shelves and case are empty. This was the second time this happened to me at about the same time of the day. Then when I did order something off the menu, it was not good. My point was the unsatisfactory way in which the owner handled it when I told him it wasn't good. We chose to leave rather than order more. Again, not another person in the restaurant, other than the waitress and owner, had a clue about our experience. If I was the rude person they are saying I am, everyone in there would have known what was going on. My advice to others considering driving a distance for bakery items, call ahead and ask what they have and see if they will hold what you want because the shelves may be empty when you get there otherwise. Whether that means they can't keep up with the demand OR they don't know how to supply the shelves for a busy summer Friday! My review reflects my experience at this...
Read moreThis restaurant is a warm contemporary place that serves very fresh vegetables and authentic German cuisine. Oma also has a delicious bakery and lots of cozy small town charm and hospitality. It's family owned and as a restaurant guest I felt like the staff went out of their way to make us and other guests feel like we were visiting at their home. The restaurant is extremely clean and it's modern decorated. Prices are very reasonable. The menu is varied and full of salad, breads, dessert and Spätzle and other German sides and main dishes. They also have Kuchen but were sold out of it when we were there. The bread served was soft and homemade and the butter good too. They also had a breakfast menu but we ate there for dinner. I had a dish called Rahm schnitzel and I also ordered a side salad and a cup of carrot ginger soup. The soup was so thick and really full of carrot and ginger flavor. The salad had a homemade vinegrette and pickled vegetables. The food very well presented and prepared. My friend I ate with ordered the bratwurst with sauerkraut. There was a gravy over his bratwurst. He said it reminded him of his grandma's cooking. The owner is German and from Freiburg in Black Forrest Region of Germany. Yes there are cuckoo clocks on one wall. Definitely glad I tried this place and I want to go again. They also have special dining events days like...
Read moreWe ate here for the first time today. Drive down for fun because a friend had been there recently and recommended it really highly. It did not disappoint. Everything we tried was fantastic. The waitress , who was wonderful, recommended we try the homemade noodles- and because it was a weekend we could order the full menu (we were there at 12:45pm) with any substitutions. It was really hard to decide because of all the great choices but finally settled on the schnitzel, noodles, and a salad. My spouse had mushroom gravy and pork cutlets with a salad. Both dishes were some of the best food we have had in years at a restaurant. The salad dressing was a lemon vinaigrette which kinda changed our lives. (We might be salad people now?!)
Everything about this experience was worth the travel, money, and everything else. We will be going to Oma Bread every time we pass through Wadena. And we are going to make sure to pass through Wadena a lot more...
