Really had high hopes for this place, as my initial interaction with the business owner for a wedding lunch catering was efficient and pleasant. She was helpful in deciding the amount of food needed and I had confidence that everything will go smooth. A few months later, when it was time to pick up the order on the wedding day, it came to my attention that everything had mayo on it. Now, perhaps it was my fault to not specifically ask what condiments were going to be on the sandwiches, but to find out from the wedding party that literally everything had mayo slapped on it, even the caprese sandwich, was really surprising. I'm sure the rebuttle will be that when we spoke on the phone, this was discussed - it was not. I had a printout of the menu in front of me when I placed the order and specifically, the caprese sandwich ingredients did not list mayo as one of them. Yes, I did have the canva designed menu handy, as it was available on the website when I first found this place. My sister called that same day to see if we can get at least a new order of caprese sandwiches, as there were people in the wedding party, particularly the groom, that has a major aversion to mayo, literally makes him physically sick; probably not a good thing on your wedding day to be. As a result, the groom himself had to find his own lunch. Instead of offering any kind of resolution or any sort of apology, my sister was met with immediate defensiveness and attitude, alluding that it was basically no fault of hers and that's how the sandwiches come.
Some helpful tips for the next catering order that may help: Put condiments on the side, in little containers, like any other normal catering order (and I've ordered plenty in my lifetime), so that people can choose whether they want something on their sandwich or not. Noone wants to have soggy sandwiches sitting around. Mayo on caprese?? I would rethink that. If you can't hold the attitude, perhaps choose a business other than hospitality. No, the customer isn't always right, but in this instance, the attitude was not necessary at all.

Read moreMy wife and I were visiting and exploring Waitsfield, VT for the first time, and we’re so glad we stumbled upon Three Mountain Café. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed and at ease, this place has that authentic, small-town charm that makes you want to linger.
I ordered the Spicy Turkey Club Panini from their panini section ($13), and it was excellent. It came with Farmer’s & Cooks fireside turkey breast, tomato, cheddar, chipotle mayo, all pressed on a fresh baguette (I opted to skip the bacon). The sandwich had the perfect balance of flavor and spice, the chipotle mayo brought just the right kick, and the turkey was juicy and flavorful. The bread was warm and crisp, holding everything together without overpowering the ingredients. A really satisfying, thoughtfully prepared lunch.
The staff were friendly, laid-back, and helpful. Even though it was our first time in, they made us feel welcomed. They gave great menu suggestions, and service was quick but never rushed. You can tell they care about the quality of what they serve and the experience they provide.
Three Mountain Café has a cozy, welcoming vibe that fits perfectly with the laid-back spirit of the Mad River Valley. There’s plenty of seating, local art on the walls, and a community feel that makes it a great spot to relax with a cup of coffee or a light meal. It’s the kind of place where locals and visitors mix naturally, and you leave feeling like you found something special.
Whether you’re passing through Waitsfield or spending the day exploring, Three Mountain Café is absolutely worth a stop. Great food, kind people, and a...
