Same review I put on tripadvisor... I had a hankerin' for some fried clams... I'll start by saying I'm from Boston and currently living at the house here on the Shore through covid. We had never tried Mr shrimp before. One of the neighbors said it was good. I decided to give it a shot. I was out doing errands, called ahead and ordered a side of Ipswich fried clams. All I have to say is what the F are these??? First off, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to know that a side order of fried clams or any other fried seafood does not go in a CLOSED clamshell box or any other closed container.... NO NO NO!!! I ordered them over the phone and I was there while they were packaging them. They are "ready now"... Let's go home now... I was home within 5 minutes and frightened because I know what was going to be in that container. Wet, steamed fried clams. Moving forward... I opened the container after getting out a sheet pan, a piece of foil and a couple layers of paper towel because I knew they would need some resuscitation. What I found didn't disappoint... Yes, I was right... Wet steamed fried clams however, I wasn't quite sure what I was looking at... They don't look like fried clams to me... No fried clams I'VE ever seen... They are KINDA the correct size and shape however I don't even know how to describe the coating (if that's what we'll call it moving forward)... I placed the clams in a single layer on the paper towels, on the foil, on the cooking sheet in a preheated oven in an attempt to do something to salvage this... Mess?? I took them out when the coating (??) Was dry to touch. I thought I saved myself. Sadly, I was wrong... I dipped the corner of one of the clams in just a little bit of tartar sauce because this tartar sauce looks like a scoop of mayonnaise with a very scant smattering of relish (like relishe is expensive?). I put the clam in my mouth and I started to chew... OK... third chew.. all I taste is the tartar sauce... well... mayonnaise as it were... I barely touched the fried clam to the "tartar sauce"... I managed to get that clam down and tried the smallest one with no tartar sauce... just the clam. WOW!! How did you do that? Absolutely amazing the lack of flavor... just how little of ANYTHING I ANY taste... all I taste is warm and friolator. What the H is the coating (?) even made of that it doesn't have any flavor at all?.. now I'm getting nervous... At this point I've decided I'm not going to eat whatever this sh_t is so decided to amuse my hungry self and do some dissecting. These are no fried clams I've ever seen. Clams??? If anything they are chopped up PIECES of clam that are somehow made to vaguely resemble a fried clam in size and shape then coated in whatever the hell this (again.. coating (??)) is. Needless to say, these skidded off into the trash... My puppy sat there with a rather indignant look on his face... He usually gets a little taste of things I eat that fall into the category of "safe for dogs".. These don't fall under that category. Actually, that's not fair... I can't say that because again, I really don't know what it IS I just paid $18 plus $2 tip for. I'm keeping my phone by my side in case I need to dial 911 anytime soon. Hey... Something positive... The guy behind the...
Read moreCame here for my grandma's birthday. Food was absolutely bland as could be. I was shocked. The only thing with flavor was the Buffalo shrimp appetizer (thanks to some hot sauce). The stuffed shrimp entrée was flavorless and dry - no seasoning, no sauce, not even salt and pepper. I took it home to "doctor it up", but it was really a lost cause, so in the trash trash went. Absolutely not worth the ridiculous $25 price. The same could be said for the stuffed salmon. Crab, salmon, shrimp... all of it bland and dry! My grandma got the fried oysters and ipswich clams also dry as a bone and flavorless! I really don't understand how NOTHING had flavor. Please do a simple Google search for some recipes. Another disappointment was the lobster bisque. A bisque is a creamy, rich soup. This was a bland broth with maybe a dash of milk. Not creamy or luxurious at all. And two out of the tree people in our party who ordered the soup had absolutely NO LOBSTER - so literally just a bowl/cup of bland broth. So so disappointed. Now, after reading other reviews, I see that the owner claims to not respond to most reviews because "everyone has their own opinion", and that's fine. But please, take note of what people are saying. Each dish was about $25 and that's a decent amount of money for a meal that tastes like absolutely nothing. I mean have you ever heard of salt & pepper? Thyme, oregano, garlic, rosemary, sage, onion, ANYTHING?! If you're gonna serve such dry flavorless food please please provide a sauce. Just a suggestion, but until I find out that the food has been improved, neither my family nor I will be returning. Such a shame that an almost $200 meal left everyone disappointed. Only reason for giving it 2 stars was the incredible service. Our waitress was the best, so sweet, kind, and friendly. Wish I could give her 5 stars, and the food...
Read moreI went to Mr. Shrimp yesterday for my birthday dinner 2 children & 2 adults, keep in mind it was not busy at all for a Friday night. I’ve been here 3 times in the past and let me tell you last night was my worse experience overall with everything. I’m not the type to write bad review but I had to. We hardly saw our waitress for the entire time we were there. She was busy eating, on her phone texting or talking to her co-worker. She took our orders and brought our beverages out. Now tell me who goes to a restaurant and the waiter/waitress doesn’t offer if we would like the children food first? We were waiting for a while before all 4 meals came out. Like I said our waitress was no where around. She didn’t came over to asked how’s everything, is there anything I can get you. When they placed my dish on the table I wanted to barf 🤢. I wished I took a picture. The presentation was not presentable AT ALL. The food has no taste, the rice was not cooked properly. Plus she messed up my order. I asked for stuffed lobster tail and I got a regular lobster that smells raw. When I asked our waitress if I could get something else because is not what I excepted plus my order was wrong. She offered to bring the crab meat on the side instead of taking it back to give me what I order. She didn’t took me food back. I had to pay for that uneatable food plus a new entree which didn’t made a difference. I was so turned off I had no interest to even eat. The food overall was just tasteless, lack of presentation and just not appetizing. I know I will NOT be be going back there. It was just just pure disappointment from...
