Hometown Pizza & Restaurant — Restaurant in Wallingford

My husband and I order from here quite often and have visited once. The last time we were there I was still recovering from a broken ankle and so I was on crutches. We sat outside and enjoyed the nice patio but I went in real quick to use the bathroom and on my way through the entrance way the waitress almost ran me down because she was in such a rush. We mentioned it to the manager who seemed to take it seriously so we thought everything was good. We figured next time would be better and maybe it was just a rough night. Tonight we ordered take out from there and I told the girl on the phone about 5 times that I am allergic to tomatoes. I ordered the chicken taco salad but made sure I said without salsa because I'm allergic to tomato and also if there are any other form of tomatoes in it to please remove it. She read off the order and again I mentioned about being allergic. I thought I was clear w We received our food and my salad had about 6 grape tomatoes in it which were in the back of the salad so I didn't realize they were there. I ate most of my salad before I realized. Needless to say my stomach got really upset and I had a reaction from it. I called the manager and he did apologize and comp for the salad but then later I found out that my husbands chicken tenders and French fries were overcooked, black, and dry. They were so bad he needed to throw them out and didn't end up having dinner. I really don't understand what happened to this place because they used to be good and have awesome customer service but I must say I am really disappointed in the lack of care they give to their customers recently and the quality...

Ordered seafood pasta last night. My dad likes it with no mussels, and we have ordered it before, specifying no mussels, and it has come with mussels. This time I made sure to specify NO MUSCLES at least 3 times ordering on the phone- It comes about an hour later with essentially nothing but MUSSELS. Because this has happened before and it is an expensive dish, I call to tell them they incorrectly made the dish. After being on the phone for about 45 minutes they finally agreed to refund the dish. I get a call about 10 minutes later saying they now want to come pick it up so I leave everything including the bread and side salad on the front porch for them to retrieve. They never show up so the food goes bad from sitting outside. This has been my go to restaurant for pizza and pasta for YEARS and I can confidently say they do not deserve business. I have ordered from here many times and it has always been good until yesterday. Im not sure what happened but they dropped the ball. Fried calamari was over fried and like rubber, it was inedible. The marinara that came with it was over salted by a lot. Parmesean wings were also over cooked and dried out. Threw them out. Bruschetta was on sliced bread that was too thick and not toasted enough so the tomatoes made the bread a soggy mess. Chicken ceasar salad, the chicken was dry, cold and unseasoned. The eggplant parm sandwich would have been great but the same salty marinara was used. We spent over $60 on food that was super disapointing. My husband was angry.
