I recently had the pleasure of dining at Jaya's Kitchen, a delightful South Indian restaurant in Wallingford, Connecticut. Upon perusing their specials for the day, I couldn't resist the temptation of trying their Tandoori Chicken, and boy, was I in for a treat! Served as a full baby chicken, the Tandoori Chicken at Jaya's Kitchen exceeded all expectations. From the moment it arrived at the table, the tantalizing aroma of aromatic spices filled the air, promising a culinary journey like no other. The chicken was beautifully marinated, with the perfect blend of traditional Indian spices, resulting in a burst of flavor in every bite. The tender, succulent meat practically melted in my mouth, a testament to the skill and expertise of the chefs at Jaya's Kitchen. Each bite was a harmonious symphony of flavors, with just the right balance of heat and spice, leaving my taste buds dancing with joy. What truly stood out was the generous portion size – the full baby chicken was more than sufficient for two people, making it not only a delicious but also a value-for-money option. The presentation was impeccable, with the dish plated elegantly, adding to the overall dining experience. The ambiance of the restaurant was warm and inviting, with attentive staff who provided excellent service throughout the meal. Coupled with the authentic South Indian decor, it truly felt like a culinary journey to the heart of India.

If I could give zero stars I would! Just ordered food online and I am furious as only one dish is eatable out of 3 dishes are ordered. And the dessert is a joke. I ordered bhindi masala, baigan bharta and palak panner along with parontha and ra malai. Baigan bharta is just the most disgusting dish I’ve ever ate! There’s no flavor of eggplant being roasted over coal, infant, it’s sweet and no taste at all and I can tell it’s thawed and heated rather than fresh. Had no salt and hard peas in it (who puts peas in baigan bharta?) Palak panner is another scam like you see in most Indian restaurants who don’t know how to make this simplest dish! There’s no salt or spices, it’s sweet with so much cream in it I can hardly taste spinach! It’s awful! Bhindi is eatable after putting some salt in it, again, this is sweet too!! Parontha is so oily, I can’t eat more than one! Ras malai, I don’t even have words, I’ll just share pictures! Don’t cook North Indian food if you don’t know how to! And stop cheating with Indian people by fooling them with tasteless Indian meals! I am most sad about non Indians trying this crappy-bulk prepped-same gravy used in every dish-food and thinking this is authentic Indian food!!! ITS NOT!!!!!! Please stick to South Indian food as it’s prepared fresh and looks like you guys can do that well. But stay away from North Indian food!! Waste of money and time!

This place was super busy when we walked in with our party of 7 at 6pm. They don't take reservations on the weekend so we had to wait about 20 while an equally large party finished. There were 3 gentleman hosting, serving, and cleaning. I never saw them stop moving. The set up is inviting and noise level appropriate. They were able to accomodate my fish allergy (I had to stay away from all things fried). Our only complaint was the lack of enough water for 7 people. They started us out with one pitcher which gave us about 1/3 cup each. As apps came out (spicy and delicious), we wanted more water but it took about 10 minutes. Perhaps they didn't have enough clean ones? Either way, that was frustrating. Back to the food: It was amazing. We asked that they bring items out as they were finished. They did! When ordering, if you don't know what an item is, ask them. They will make suggestions, etc. This is South Indian so there's no naan bread but be sure to try some of their delicious alternatives. Lots of pick up orders, lots of full tables and happy customers. Families, 20-something's, retired folk. All cultures seen during our 90+ minute stay. Try their canned sodas from India. Try new stuff. We'll be back, even if I have to bring in my own water.

This is the first time I am complaining about any restaurant. Today 21st May 2023, I went to Jaya’s kitchen and their service was worst. The server with white T-shirt was least interested in serving us. First she showed us a the table and asked us if the couch style seat is okay for us or not. I said okay. After 5 minutes I asked her if I could get extra chair, she was bit rude saying they were full so she can’t do anything. I was not told that they were full when she asked me to seated, next you can’t ask a group of 5 to adjust in 4 seats. Next, she didn’t gave us menu, after 15 minutes I asked 1 guy wearing black tshirt to give me menu. Then he was surprised and apologetic to not giving menus on time. The time we ordered we asked for dosas and she made her face saying no appetizers even not listening the full order. I asked for mild spices as we had our parents and kid. But when food came everything was spicy. Next, there was no water refill or anything. As that white tshirt wearing girl was our server so I asked for water refill and she didn’t showed up then I again called a guy who had given us menu-initially for water and cheque. I don’t know what was her problem with us. If that one guy hadn’t had showed a decency saying sorry I wouldn’t have given a penny in tips. So, as per today Jaya’s kitchen food and services were worst, I would say horrible. I am not recommending any of my friend to go and taste food there which I have been...
