Tonight my 19 month old daughter was eating the kids burrito we had ordered her for dinner and started crying and screaming inconsolably. She kept grabbing at her tounge in pain so in between trying to have her drink milk and soothing her with a popsicle we realized Moes put fresh jalapeños throughout her burrito (which was not ordered). We called Moes and spoke to the manager “Jay Von Johnson” , who had a total lack of compassionate for her and the situation (despite being able to hear our daughter inconsolably crying in the background). He tried telling us it was from the corn pico - which does not have the ingredients listed in the store or online. My spouse had the same corn pico without a single jalapeño in it. We discussed with the manager the concern of cross contamination of food, or staff error, which the manager stated he “handled” .. we are not sure how this happen during the phone call since we did not tell the employee who answered the phone why we were calling. (Luckily, our daughter does not have an allergy, but sadly our poor girl is absolutely miserable). We asked for the food to be credited because of Jay’s lack of concern and poor attitude toward the situation never waiverd during the entire call. He told us since we were not currently in the store, he couldn’t credit our credit card without us returning to the store, and we have to contact their cooperate office ... which I find hard to believe. All and all the way “Jay Von Johnson” the “manager” acted was as unprofessional and disappointing as our food. We won’t...
Read moreMy wife and I went to Moe's for the first time in...years. We used to go to the one in New Haven a couple times a week. We were on a first name basis with the two sisters who owned it, that's how much we went there.
Oh, how the mighty have fallen.
We had stopped going to Moe's a few years ago, and I frankly don't remember why. So I suggested it for lunch today (8/18/25). It will be a long, long, cold day in the firey netherregions before we ever set foot in another Moe's.
First, we walk in...and the floor is sticky. That should have been the first clue to just...walk away. Second, there were just two people working...at lunchtime. And only two guys in front of us in an otherwise empty restaurant.
The real kicker...the pinto beans were not done. They were crunchy. And not even uniformly crunchy. Some were crunchier than others. The guac was insipidly bland and watery. The queso was still good, but some of the chips were actually partially uncooked, some were just grease-filled sponges, and none of them had any salt on them. Oh, and yeah, the Coke machine that is supposed to have a gazillion flavors in it had...exactly 9 flavors, none of them diet. Not 9 different brands, 9 different flavors total. And of the one I had, it tasted like someone increased the dilution to make it stretch farther.
Please, if you need a Mexican fix, go to either #Tacos on Main St or any of the other muy authentica tacquerias within a 5...
Read moreFav pick-your-own fast food place bar none, nobody has chicken as good as their Adobo chicken is, absolutely clears Chipotle and Pancheros. Queso if a bit overprices is the bomb and totally worth it, and their chips are made fresh and are personally unbeatable, maybe only behind Chili's. My only tip would be there if u go there at least twice a week would be to get the cup of queso not the side, lasts 2-3 meals for me usually where the side might not even last one. Also FYI chips are literally free, and as long as it's not busy they are always happy to give you extra. Have tried to convert all my friends from Chipotle to here, and the ones not blinded by ignorance all agree the grass is greener here. Have been going here for years and after seeing they only had a 3.8 had to give them the 5 star. Most of the workers are super chill too, and only once in a blue moon will you get someone holding back on the meat like it comes out of their paycheck (ahem Chipotle). Only thing I would recommend is I would always wait in line to get your food, as long as you have the time you run a much higher chance of not getting gypped, because despite the convenience I found it happened much more frequently when mobile ordering or doordashing. You can still get just as much rewards points as mobile ordering if you keep the receipt and put the code in the app. Anyway hope this place stays here forever, probably a top 3 chain...
