A donut is just a donut, right? Well, maybe. Unless we're talking about Neil's Donuts. These are something really out of the ordinary. Sweet treats for certain, but donuts like none you've ever had, except from here. The variety (there are 37 of them, and a few are seasonal) rivals any national chain, and the quality is unmatched by any donuts I've ever had anywhere else. They're not cake-like and overly sweet as are those produced by a famous southern chain, nor as heavy as that ubiquitous national chain we all know. The jelly fillings taste like real fruit fillings are used, and the cream filled ones are just wonderful. What seems to get lost in all of the hubbub about the great donuts produced by Neil's, are the other terrific baked products produced here. Cookies, bread, muffins, coffee rolls & cakes, pies (14 kinds, some seasonal), Danish (16 kinds), freshly made breakfast sandwiches and more are all of comparable quality to those awesome donuts. My latest visit I noticed some Minion cookies. Very cute. Most mornings there is a line out the door of customers waiting to place their orders. No one ever seems to get discouraged and leave before making their purchase. Besides, the line moves very quickly. That alone speaks to what you can expect...

I agree that their donuts are excellent. Very large with lots of filling.

Expect to get there very early, at least on the weekends. Expect to find a very busy small parking lot and a line out the door. Also expect it to be noisy. You should know exactly what you want beforehand because with the line of people in front of the counter, you can't see what they have and there not a lot of signs that lists the variety and prices, you won't know what to ask for.

When I first moved to Wallingford, I went there in the afternoon and they were closed. The second time, I went earlier and it was so crowded, I left. Today, I decided I would deal with the crowd and went on the website so I knew what I wanted and when I finally got to the counter, I was told they were all out of muffins except for a few left overs pistachio ones. It was only 9:30 in the morning and they looked like they had only a few items left. Strike three, I ended up leaving and went somewhere else.

So if you want to get up at 5 AM on a weekend day to be there at 6 when they open, have at it. It's not...

I placed in order and arrived at 1:03 PM on Sunday. The door was locked and I tried to get many of the girls attention to let them know that I had already placed an order. I just needed to pay for it and pick it up. Nobody acknowledged me matter of fact, they all looked at me like I was a dog with five heads. Essentially wasting the businesses money because all I wanted to do was pay and pick up my food. We at Masonicare order from this place at least 56 times a week and I’m very disappointed that I couldn’t even get one person to talk to me and expressed to me what was going on . I also called over nine times and nobody picked up the phone while I was standing there so they just essentially ignored me all around. I don’t appreciate that type of service. Someone could’ve at least spoken to me like I was an actual human being. Truly turned me off from this business completely, and I will make sure to tell my fellow coworkers to go elsewhere for their food somewhere where we’re...

This place was packed. We got the giant cinnamon roll, the glazed cruller, the cinnamon cruller, the Samoan, the blueberry crumble, regular glazed, and the Boston cream. The cinnamon roll was like a giant churro wrapped in a spiral with some extra cinnamon between the rolls. The cruller was definitely good, not the best but it was a good simple cruller. The samoan was like they took a girl scout cookie and scraped it onto a yeast doughnut. The blueberry was a tasty blueberry jam stuffed inside a powdered sugar donut, the jelly was a bit thick and sweet but if you have something to drink it will go down with no problem. The Boston cream was very good, just a bunch of cream in a doughnut, kinda hard to screw up. The glazed was good, nothing to really comment on. The worst was the cinnamon cruller, it was like a cake long john which is all the bad parts rolled into one, it was dry, tasteless and just heavy for no reason.
