Za-Onn Thai House — Restaurant in Wallingford

Absolutely the best Thai I've ever had. Everything else within a 30 mile radius pales in comparison, and the owner is very friendly! I'm making an effort to go line by line and try everything on the menu, and I'm about two thirds of the way through.

Some dishes strike me as a bit weird, but they're still GOOD, and those have been the low points! All the food is fresh and flavorful. Be careful, though, because the food comes to you right out of the pan, and it will be blazing hot if you try to dig in too fast.

I have a few minor criticisms to levy: Food doesn't all come out at the same time. Some diners at a table will receive their food while others wait. From a service standpoint, the dining room can feel abandoned. There's usually only two people running it, and they're both in the kitchen most of the time. I never felt like I was left hanging, however. You should call before you go to make sure they're open! They do not adhere strictly to their posted hours, and will randomly take off for a few hours or...

One of Connecticut's best Thai restaurants, by any standard. The food here is consistently good. The flavor profiles of their dishes are spot-on, retaining all the aromatic qualities you'd expect from good Thai, and also all the spice. The sauces aren't diluted with corn starch and have the mouth watering consistency you want... not too thick, not too thin. I can't recommend this restaurant more. My taste for Thai is fairly discerning, too, having basically lived off Thai food for a decade in NYC. I've grown to know what good Thai tastes, smells, looks and feels like, and Za-Onn nails it! The prices are perfect for the quality and you'll leave feeling like you've just been treated instead of ripped off. Don't attempt any other Wallingford Thai restaurants unless you're looking for delivery, in which case Sirinan's Thai and Japanese restaurant is an okay option but not nearly as good and the same...

Did not pick up my calls. They made 2 errors and I did trust their response and told em I will recheck and call em right back. Rechecked food but there was 2 clear errors and guess what, they did not answer my 10 calls I made few seconds later. I deeply care for small business and that u I continue to support them... This one for 13 years already.. I just wish small business care about loyal customers and at least answer calls. Remember it's harder to get new customers then keep old ones!
