Donut Tree has been around for as long as I can remember. I go here every so often and the donuts and other food are usually good. Last year, I saw on the local Facebook page that they had merch! Black and white shirts available. We had first asked in January 2024, for a small black shirt and a medium white shirt. The lady told us to come back next month. So first week of February we came back and asked, she told us they don't have it right now but to come back next week. So we came back the second week of February and guess what. She said if we could come back next week. So for a while we called every couple weeks to see if they had any before we came but it was always the same answer. We visited in May, she asked if we could come back tomorrow, we called instead and they didn't have it. I thought we'd give them a couple months. Visited in October 2024, did not have it. Visited in November 2024, asked if we could come back the next day. This whole experience had turned me off to ever coming back unfortunately. That and during the last visit, the ham and cheese croissant we ordered did not have any cheese! AND it was cold! The donut was also stale, not what I expected during a Sunday morning. I love supporting mom and pop small businesses, but I'm beginning to feel like they told us to "come back" in a ploy to just get us to make more purchases. Consumers shouldn't be decieved. If you don't make them anymore, just tell us. Was really looking forward to representing Donut Tree merch, but...

Shady: They do tell you the amount of the things you bought. HOWEVER, when you pay credit card, they don't even tell you or say the amount and when you go pay using credit card, they'll press a few things on the credit card pad. If you're not paying attention, which most people don't, you'll up charge without knowing if you don't read the fine print on their cashiers register. However too the fine print is so small for customers to truly see it without really leaning in and squinting with your eyes.*
pay cash if you can to avoid the 3.99% credit card charge
I asked why they're charging, he told me it's cuz the credit card machine charged customers. In my head I said yeah right, I see you put in the numbers for it to be charged that amount. I think they're just trying to avoid themselves having to pay the fee.
I think the right thing for them to do is to tell all customers that there's a charge fee and actually tell them how much customers end up paying. I don't get why they tell customers the cost in total, but when credit card is scanned, it's silence, no mention of anything. Besides that, they sell donuts, muffins, sodas, milk, and chocolate milk, etc.
It's...

⚠️ Mt. SAC Students, Proceed with Caution ⚠️
As a former Mt. San Antonio College student, I expected better from a local business. My recent visit to Donut Tree left me with a sour taste that had nothing to do with their lemon-filled pastries.
The Not-So-Sweet Experience: 💳 Payment Hiccup: When my Apple Pay glitched, I offered to get cash. The response? Let's just say it wasn't exactly "service with a smile." 👮 Overreaction: Threatening to call the sheriff over a minor payment issue? Talk about glazed and confused. 🕰️ Early Bird Special: This all went down during the wee hours. Nothing like a side of drama with your morning coffee.
Silver Lining: 🏧 ATM to the rescue: Thankfully, I had my card and could make the purchase. 🤔 Food for Thought: The quiet corner where I sat became an unexpected spot for reflection.
Bottom Line: Students, your meal plan might be a safer bet. If you do venture here, maybe bring cash... and a thick skin.
Remember, even the sourest experiences can lead to sweet reflections. Just maybe not the kind you'd expect from a donut shop.
