Been drooling for several years waiting for Mr Chicken to open in Warren and finally, the time has come. We have dined at Mr.Chicken Warrwn several times, each time hoping for a better dining experience. We dine out about 5 times a week and love Portuguese food. We have tried most of the Portuguese restaurants in Fall River, East Providence, Bristol. What we find at most is good food, a plentiful dish and affordable prices! Anyway, we've been tor Chicken a few times ordering different dishes. We've had 2 different waitresses. One, a little older, friendlier, more talkative and the other younger, more difficult to communicate with (perhaps doesn't speak English as easily), & and seems short with her answers to the customers. It seems you have some type of unusual policy that sandwiches are only on your takeout menus and you charge more $$ if eaten dine in? I've never heard of such a policy..? Another time, I ordered the fish & chips..a safe choice, anyone in NE can make it. It looked good, but I took one bite and either.the batter wasn't fully cooked or ?? It tasted like Van de Camp's out of the box. It was near $20! for F & C. I wasn't going to say anything but my husband encouraged me to send it back. I tried to be very quiet and respectful to the waitress but she became really defensive. I was annoyed because she had waited on us at.least 4 times before without problems and now treating us as someone trying to get a freebies. Also, as someone else mentioned in their comment, you have plenty of sides, but they are mostly potato based. I asked the younger waitress one time what was the difference between the two dinners (of the same protein, either fish or chicken, I don't remember ). One said "Portuguese spices" when.i asked the difference between the two,, she said well, one has Portuguese spices.. thinking my question wasn't clear, I asked what was in Portuguese spices? I wasn't trying to be smart, I was just trying to get an idea if it was spicy or bland..she couldn't answer nor did she try to get an answer from the kitchen. Your dine in area is always dark and empty. In the beginning, you had the tables dressed with tableclothes only to REMOVE them when you sat us down? Your prices are a bit high for what many of the other Portuguese restaurants around are.charging..for similar portion sizes and better presented food. You should know this after being in Fall River for so long. Do not compare your dining experience with Sagres or Barco..
We, so much wanted a Portuguese restaurant in Warren to do well..we would be there 2 or 3 times a week. I'm hoping, with time, you'll shake the...
Read moreFirst time there so I'm expecting chicken dishes as their name is Mr Chicken. Nope. Just a few. My friend and I ordered the half chicken which was beyond cooked and it looked nothing like half a chicken. There was no breast meat. The whole thing was 2 inches by 5 inches at best to give you an idea of size. Also, it definitely wasn't made that day. I cannot stress how utterly dry this chicken was. We asked what the "special sauce" on the chicken was. Our waitress, i think her name was Jessica who was super sweet and nice, said I'll give you some to try before ordering it. Ok great..Then we were charged for that sauce..what?? The pork and clams had barely any sauce and the "clams" were the size of a dime. You didn't even know you were eating them. Very disappointing. We didn't get drinks, btw.. Now i understand why I never see cars...
Read moreFor starters when I called the takeout number on the website there was a dog barking in the background which immediately should’ve been my first red flag but the good reviews convinced me otherwise. STAY AWAY. I ordered takeout from here for 2 shrimp mozembique plates and they gave me some nasty vinegary tasting garlicy sauce. The rice was super oily and the fries were barely cooked. I also ordered a steak sandwich and it was literally foul. I called the manager Linda who wanted me to bring back the shrimp dishes in the middle of a winter storm to receive the refund she was super confrontational and not helpful. I’ve never heard of such a thing. I would recommend any other place besides this its NOT authentic Portuguese food at all. Buyer beware. I tried adding a photo to this review but I didn’t...
