I only wish that I had room for one of the fabulous looking desserts that were on display! I didn't have my phone inside with my, so, alas, no pictures to be shown, but this is a really nice place to eat. The prices are great, the safety precautions during the Covid-19 season were fantastic and now I'll get to the food ... I had the chicken mario platter and my husband had the roast beef mario platter. They were both really good grilled sandwiches!! The sourdough bread was nice and crispy brown, nowhere near burnt, the mozzarella was well melted and the roasted red peppers were so darn flavorful! Fries on the platter were served HOT and my husband enjoyed my pickle spear along with his own ;) (Nope, I'm not a fan of pickles!) YUM for both sandwiches! The chicken was juicy and tender and so well flavored. The only issue was that my husband bit into something hard about three quarters through his sandwich and that put him off eating the rest. He said that the meat was very tender, but didn't have a whole great deal of flavor ... There seemed to be an abundance of chicken dishes on the menu, so maybe that's what they do best? I had a pumpkin spice iced tea to drink and he had a double latte; both very pleasant! The only issue I had (If you can, indeed, call it an issue) was the waitress that was taking care of the tables. She was very persistent in coming to our table and asking if we had finished or if we'd like to continue eating. I'm not a fan of being asked every 5 minutes about things! All in all, we had a fantastic visit and will, indeed, be going back as we like supporting smaller...
Read moreVery, very disappointing! Young girls that answer the phone don't know their cake & pie products & they get frustrated & rude when you ask a question. Then I had to drive 40 minutes to the Warren restaurant because they bake there but I was told they only deliver M-F to Boardman (my order was for a Sunday)! When I got there to pick up my cake & cheesecake, they wrote in pink for a 17 yr old male (I specifically told them either red or darker blue n that it was for young man!) I had to wait about 45 mins for the young mgr to call an owner, then she sloppily took the pink writing off to rewrite the happy bd message (I do have pictures!) They didn't even have any blue except for sky blue! I had to ask for a discount & was only given 10%......the price was $75.00! The waiting around made me late for the party & I told them that but they weren't the least bit concerned! The girl even asked me if I still wanted them......where was I going to get a specialty cake n cheesecake at that point? To top it off, the consensus was neither the cake nor cheesecake were fresh! I also requested the owner call me when he came in the next day......it's 8 pm, guess he's...
Read moreThis wonderfully unique local institution, housed inside an old deconsecrated church, has put Warren, Ohio on my travel map whenever headed to the inimitable old Lake Erie resort town of Geneva-On-The-Lake, or Cleveland's spectacular Chagrin Falls/Shaker Heights joy belt (that's 17 River Grille for the Falls view, Fairmount Boulevard for the nationally significant historic-mansion views) just a day's round trip from Pittsburgh.
There's a great sandwich menu, great housemade pastry selection (their apple fritter whups Whole Foods' by a mile) -- but for me it's above all their truly memorable coffee for the road (I get the lattes; their espresso drinks are strong and flavourful).
Make that above all the refreshingly enthusiastic and friendly staff -- this place is clearly a desirable work environment, hence it can feature a truly endearing bunch of young people!
Mocha House is smack in the middle of Rust-Belt Warren's surprisingly fetching downtown district (what's left of it) -- check out the historic public and residential buildings nearby on the way in and out, and this place will become a point on your driving...
