My opinion of Heroes has gone down the last few times I've been there in the past two years. The food and service are generally okay. But today was different when it came to service. The hostess was friendly and we were sat quickly in a booth of our choice. The booths up front might be difficult to sit in if you are overweight but we managed. They are a bit of a tight space and the arm rest is a bit awkward to get your legs past if you're a thicker person. Our waitress popped up super quickly and asked for our drinks. We needed more time to decide on our food which was fine. I smiled at her a few times but for some reason she almost completely ignored me and started acting like my boyfriend was the only one at the table. It didn't bother me too much until the end of our meal when she asked him if he needed a small box for his food. She was practically bent over and in his face when she asked him that, completely ignoring me and the fact that I also had food still and might want a box as well. I was uncomfortable as well as my boyfriend, who immediately said he was uncomfortable as soon as she walked away. After bringing a box for our food she never returned to the table to ask if we wanted a refill on our drinks, but my boyfriend said she stared at him from behind the bar, then ran to hide in the back. We felt rushed and I was still thirsty. My boyfriend also wanted a bag to carry our food while we waited for my car to be worked on and shopped downtown, but she was nowhere to be found and we didn't want to bother the other waitress. Besides that the food was okay. Our carne asada fries were delicious but had different cuts of fries which seemed unusual from other times we ate there.
Another time we've been there we both ordered burgers with salads and a different waitresses decided we didn't need fries because we ordered salad. One night we ordered food online for pickup and didn't get everything (10pm ish), and a couple of times before that we've gotten burnt food. Overall It's not a bad place to eat but things are definitely changed for better or worse,...
Read moreThe food was subpar, our appetizer came out and the waitress brought it out with small plates, no napkins or silverware which both would have made sense as we got carne asada cheese fries. We waited for her to walk back by but quicklyrealized she was socializing with friends and ignoring her tables. I ended up having to go and get napkins for us myself. Then the rest of the meal came out I ordered the Chicken Parmigiana, I expected what was described on the menu but was met with a fried chicken breast topped with what seemed to be stewed tomatoes (not marinara), surrounded with a water like substance. The chicken itself was cold and soggy from whatever the mysterious liquid surrounding it was. The side of pasta had no real sauce to it and resembled something of a bland over cooked noodle with leftover pasta water. A couple of bites were all I could stomach out of each. My husband getting the Monterey Chicken Grill Sandwich and a side salad. The salad itself was old and wilted and the sandwhich was undercooked. You can definitely not eat under cooked chicken. But back to the service, Trying to again get the waitresses attention because we were still without silverware was a tough situation, but after awhile we finally were able to explain we infact needed some. Each time we spoke to her we received sighs and eye rolls as though asking for her to do the bare minimum was too much. She was quick after getting our silverware to bring the check. I did ask if that was how those dishes usually were and again I was met with eye rolls. She quickly walked away and went back to hanging out with friends. Ignoring our area completely. Being fed up with getting food that was inedible we spent a good 15 minutes trying to get anyone who worked there's attention so we could just pay and leave. We left there hungry and extremely...
Read moreWe ate at this restaurant on a whim, as we were in the area. The restaurant itself had a good layout and was about what we expected. The service was not the best (or even close to it). Our first server, took 1/3rd of our drink order and just walked off after one of the three people at the table ordered a drink. 10 minutes later we finished our drink order.
About ten minutes after that a new server took over, and took our food order. Our drinks were brought out shortly after… the alcoholic drinks were not bad at all and were well priced. The “Mexican Mule” was awesome.
However, my daughter’s lemonade was probably the most vile thing I have ever tasted. Similar to that powder flavor drink “tang” from back in the day, if it was lemon flavored and used only 1/5th of the powder it was supposed to have. Just bad flavor and terrible aftertaste.
An HOUR later, our two salads and chicken parm showed up… during the time waiting for our food, not ONE single word from our server, despite our drink cups sitting at the end of the table, clearly empty. He would walk by quickly and basically not make eye contact or even allow us to flag him down.
Food was okay. My salmon Caesar salad, was overdressed and excessively tangy and there was about 10 pieces of random, unflavored pasta in the salad… which I was pretty confused about. The salmon however was cooked very well and very tasty. The roasted vegetable salad was pretty good. And my daughter’s chicken parm was not bad at all — I ate a lot of it because the Caesar salad was almost impossible to eat more than a few bites of.
All things considered, the food has potential and the location and atmosphere is not bad at all. BUT the service was excessively bad. Maybe it’s not always like that, and you’ll have better luck… but I probably wouldn’t...
