When you walk in the restaurant it’s a really nice vibe. Upon entering there’s a bench to sit and wait for your table (25) mins is not a bad wait on a Saturday night, I told my Husband I bet this place is so busy they can’t give proper service or the food coming out in a reasonable amount of time and I nailed it on the head.

Our bill was astronomically high for the quality of food and service because the wait was so long we kept ordering drinks to keep us busy. The servers I felt bad for because they just keep going to every table apologizing, they were pretty efficient considering but I feel they should let you know the specials when you are seated as no one can read those boards (wish I knew there was a crab bisque) the calamari appetizer came out and I laughed because it was the smallest calamari appetizer I’ve ever seen then the spiced shrimp that was so over cooked it tastes like rubber with zero dipping sauce. Moving on so whatever at this point why complain when it took forever to get in the first place then when we finally got our food I guess he liked his burger but I was bamboozled by the burnt med/rare prime rib again with no sauce. It was grotesque actually and I was genuinely just beyond disappointed- the table next to us got a free meal from the server that has been there the longest since there was no manager available-Don’t you think a busy Saturday calls for a MOD at least? $148 tab and the only thing I liked was the butter beans is wild. Needless, we tried it could’ve been great but missed the mark so many times and...

It was..interesting. Went there on a Thursday night, 1 person on the bar side, maybe 20 ppl on the dining side. Took quite a while for a server to get to us. They had just opened at 4 and were already out of the soup of the day at ten minutes to 6, so that seems like poor planning. Ordered a steak & a burger - medium. 40 minutes goes by and our server comes out and says our food will be up soon just about 8 more minutes on the steak....we looked at each other, 8 MORE minutes for a medium steak? 😳 by the time the food came it had been an hour, had a feeling the burger would be too done at that point, and it was - more like medium well. Opted not to get it recooked just said I'd eat the fries because I was hungry and didn't want to wait 30 more minutes. The steak was edible but not a consistent medium throughout, half was gray the other half pink. Maybe they cooked it on one side under a broiler? Who knows. The onion strings were good, probably the best part of the meal. No one management wise came out to check with us about the issue with our food, and when we got the check they actually charged us for the fries, lol. Which, no big deal, but from a professional standpoint wouldn't you have probably said, just call it a wash since the meal got screwed up? Anyway, it seems like their focus is more on the alcohol portion of their business maybe. We had been wanting to try this place for a while, now that we have we most likely won't be back. Unless we get an onion straw...

Warsaw residents and visitors - I came to visit my mother from Richmond, VA, and was told to try Old Rapp Taphouse - I ordered a Caesar Salad and Crab Dip togo which when going back to my mother’s home, the crab dip tasted sour of some sort. I even had my grandmother try it, and she also noted it was ā€œbad.ā€ I gave a friendly phone call to the restaurant and asked for the manager, which she (Kay Campbell) was cooking in the kitchen and would give me a call back.

When speaking with Kay, she was absolutely rude with her tone stating that the crab dip was not sour and it was parmesan cheese. She stated that she usually does not make the crab dip togo, and that I should have ā€œbroiledā€ it upon going home. One, I’ve never heard of that in my entire life with a togo restaurant crab dip - and if that was the case, why not give the customer that heads up?

I asked if she was the owner, and she said that she was not, that Andy Biel in Newport News was the owner - I asked if she could give me his contact info and she stated rudely that I could ā€œlook it upā€ because she did not have time to get that information for me. I shared with Kay that I did not appreciate her tone, and she continued to be disrespectful stating that she would give me my money back.

Any place of business who treats their customers like that is NOT a place that should have someone like Kay, leading the company.

Andy, if you read this message, I would love to chat with...

So happy we stopped here instead of our first and second choices! Husband says it has both a good variety and a good quality of beers. You're allowed to choose any four of the on-tap selections for a well-priced flight, 11 options today! We were easily talked into one of today's Starter specials, seared ahi tuna with crispy wonton squares, "tapamole," and balsamic glaze. Perfectly, I mean perfectly! cooked tuna, but, oh, that not-guacamole, nice! Had to give up and ask what the other main ingredient was. I was floored, it was a food item I've long hated. Have fun and try to guess it yourself if it's available, lol. Hub got the brisket tacos, three full-sized tacos he describes as definitely worth repeating. Mine was a pulled pork sandwich with a very well-balanced ketchup-style N.C. sauce. Both meats smoked on site and were very tasty. My pick of the litter, food-wise, was a tie between the barbecue sauce and the tuna-everthing-on-the-plate Starter. But everything, down to the coleslaw, was great! I was very happy with our waitress, Waverly, who happens to be my favorite type of waitress: friendly in a real person-to-person way instead of that artificial barrier you sometimes see with diners and wait staff. Had favorites to recommend, was local, and happy to talk/listen whenever she checked on us. Great, great friendly young woman!

The Ahi Tuna appetizer came with an extremely small portion of soy chips that didnt even match the amount of Ahi Tuna, mango salsa,or the seaweed, over all not worth the price of 15 or 16 dollars that it is. The Country fried chicken had a portion of gravy on it that again....didn't match the portion of chicken that I was served. That being said the chicken was very poorly seasoned and bland under the fried layer and honestly wasn't even worth finishing and taking home. What an absolute disappointment, I will not be back to waste money there, my server was really good at refilling my drinks that seems to be the only positive from the night.

This place was very good. We had wings, ahi tuna tacos, and Taphouse burger. Wings could have used a little extra crunch and a tiny bit more sauce but were not bad by any stretch of the imagination. Tacos were excellent and the burger was excellent. Perfectly cooked and juicy. Tacos and burger were well seasoned and had good flavor. Wait staff was well versed in beers, if they ran out of what I was drinking they would stop by and ask what I'd rather have instead and we're able to give very good suggestions on what was comparable to what I had been drinking. Would definitely recommend.
