What a wonderful way to end our weekend! We arrived to what could have been a General store that has been restored as a restaurant. The colors were great, the staff was friendly and attentive and the Covid precautions were diligent we were quickly taken to our seats where we had a chance to look over the very nice menu of wines, cocktails, and beers.... amazing selection. The woman behind the bar clearly knew what she was doing so getting a cocktail was a top priority! We ordered a Dark and Stormy and Moscow Mule which were executed perfectly! The food menu was out of this world! We opted for the Peach, honey Brie and basil crostini!!! Wowza! For entrees it was a tough choice!!! We went w Crab on Crab on Crab and Shrimp and Grits!! The flavor profiles were out of this world! My shrimp and grits came w a side of green beans w sprinkled bacon and goat cheese. The shrimp were perfectly seasoned and plump, my grits were very well seasoned and texture was perfect. My husband’s Crab on Crab on Crab didn’t disappoint.... but how can a gorgeous plate w a crab cake, soft shell crab and lump crab meat be wrong! The crab cake was perfect! Very little filler and seasoning was amazing. It was served over a small bed of rice, and green beans. Needless to say we cleaned our plates! We finished it out sharing a Chocolate raspberry tart... which was again, out of this world. The flavors were so bold and smooth!
To rewind w little bit, it was suggested to us to make a reservation by our Air BnB hosts and I listed my husband’s tree nut allergy on the reservation as requested.... so we fast forward to desert and the waitress came over and said “ the desserts we have available that comply w your allergy are these” I was impressed!!!!! It was a dinner from start to finish where we felt safe... not only w their Covid precautions and diligence but their diligence w his nut allergy. We are looking forward to visiting again!!!!! Thank...
Read moreWe have been here 3 times. The first time our experience was so inexplicably horrible the owner called me the next day to apologize and mailed us a gift certificate to give them a second chance. The second time, we had a great experience. While the food wouldn't stand up to what's available in Richmond, for example, it was the best I've had in the area. And the guest shucker provided absolutely flawlessly shucked oysters. Tonight, our third visit, gives them a solid 3/5. They've decided that they now add 3% to checks if you pay with a credit card (which violates their contract with their payment processor), but there was a sign at the front warning you, so I would have let it go if at least one of the items on the check weren't charged $1 more than advertised on the menu. When I said they could either charge me more than advertised for the food or charge me for using a credit card, but not both, they removed the overages, but not before making me wait 10 minutes in an absolutely freezing restaurant while the only person with this apparent power worked the hostess stand and packed a to-go order. When you have an irritated customer who has a 90-minute drive ahead of them, maybe don't make them wait for you to undo your attempt to cheat them. We definitely won't roll the dice on Relish again. 101 for the owners: your menu you should reflect the offerings (it didn't), your prices on the menu should match the prices in your POS (they didn't), and you should bake credit card fees into your pricing. It's ok to offer a discount for cash, it's not okay to upcharge for credit. Read the fine print on your contract. But regardless, that $4.50 can't possibly be worth losing a customer and...
Read moreFrom the outside, you would never guessed that Relish is a gourmet restaurant with one of kind meals. The food was impressive but expensive. They have a good selection of cocktails and beer. I would recommend you make a reservation before your visit. They seemed to be pretty busy. I ordered the Braised Beef Cheeks since I never had it before and never seen it served elsewhere. I was so happy with my decision. The meat was cooked nice and tender. My husband and my sister in-law ordered the Local Rockfish. It was prepared well with beautiful presentation, but they both didn’t feel full after the meal. My brother in-law ordered the Lump Local Crab Cakes, he devoured the plate so quickly I didn’t even get to taste the Crab Cake. Relish serves gourmet food without feeling pretentious. Nice friendly local people eat there and work there. I would definitely...
