Friday and Saturday night - July 18th and 19th:
The food was great and came out at a timely manner, as well as the drinks. However I wanted to share some feedback regarding our experience this past weekend. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry for over eight years, so I understand how busy and challenging large groups can be, but I feel it’s important to express how uncomfortable and unwelcome we felt during our visit.
On Friday night, our server was GREAT at first when attending to our table of 6-8 people for dinner. However, once more people showed up (We were here for a wedding) he began to allow our drinks to sit empty for long stretches of time and often seemed to intentionally ignore us. Even when directly spoken to, he would look away without a smile or acknowledgment or would take one persons order but not ask the table if anyone needed anything. We had asked to split our check- a request we made early as a courtesy to help streamline the order process, given the number of food and drink orders we were placing. Instead of explaining that it wasn’t possible, he ignored the request and brought one check anyway. Even more frustrating was that after agreeing he would continue to serve us after we paid for the first rounds, he suddenly refused further table service and told us we’d need to go to the bar for any additional orders, despite us still sitting in his section and continuing to order. It felt like we were being actively pushed out.
From a service perspective, that shift-from full service to none-without clear communication would be unacceptable for any party, large or small. It was unprofessional and made the entire table feel dismissed.
Beyond that, the behavior from the host staff both nights was also disappointing. Multiple people in our group overheard hosts making unkind comments about us, rolling their eyes, and giving us dirty looks. On Saturday night, when a few guests asked to move to nearby empty tables by the bar (so we wouldn’t be in the way of food runners), we were told it was fine - only to be approached later by a staff member who spoke to us sharply, removed items from the tables aggressively, and made us feel unwelcome again.
The only bright spot was the bartenders on Saturday - every interaction we had with them was great. They were friendly, helpful, and made us feel like valued guests.
We understand that we were a large, loud party and that can be logistically difficult. We also understand that servers can’t always split checks or keep everything perfect in a fast-paced setting. But the lack of communication, the visible and audible frustration from multiple staff members, and the sense that we were a burden rather than welcomed guests left a very negative impression. Being paying customers should come with at least basic courtesy, and at no point should guests feel embarrassed, talked about, or forced to serve themselves while still sitting in a server’s section.
We hope this feedback can be taken constructively. We truly wanted to enjoy our time and support the business, but the way things were handled left most of us feeling disappointed and disrespected, and we will not be attending this restaurant again and telling others not to, because of this experience. You have left a very sour taste in about 50 people’s mouths. and I hope you don’t take this lightly as word of mouth could be a big problem for you moving forward with that type of...
Read moreI wanted to bring attention to the service/atmosphere I experienced on Friday night July 18th. I was at the hotel to attend a destination wedding & many of the guests were checking in on this night. I was with a table of 8 on the patio. We had great service at first & good food. My disappointment came as the evening progressed. After we finished eating, the service became negligent & we were made to feel as though they wanted us to leave now that the food was consumed. We were good paying customers & continued to want to visit & order drinks. More guest came to the patio as the evening went on. Many complained about the hostess making them feel unwanted & that the party on the patio they were going to join (which was us) was unwelcome. I was told the hostess was eye rolling when some of the guests came to join us. They also over heard smarky comments from the staff. There was no unruliness from the guests, we were paying customers just visiting, talking, wanting food & drinks. Shortly after we were done eating The table was then made to close out our tab, not allowed separate checks, & then the service stopped. We were told if we wanted anything to go to the bar to order. There were some other tables around who were continuing to get service. This was confusing to me & I did not appreciate the party to be feeling this way. Enough was enough & We then all went across the street to a Mexican restaurant where the entire party felt welcomed, they acted as though they were excited to see us, the drinks were good, bartender & waitresses were exceptional. They stayed open later for us. We were made to feel special & they appreciated our business. Night & day as to what we experienced at the Iron Works restaurant. As a paying customer I have certain expectations & they certainly failed. Unfortunately what was to be a nice evening of visiting with family & friends at the hotel connected restaurant was extremely disappointing. The next night some guests went to the bar & felt the same vibe as unwanted guests….except for the bartender, who was gracious & kind. It is quite unfortunate to have this feeling when you are traveling to have a wonderful celebratory...
Read moreGood experience...looking forward to my next visit to get this to a 5 star because I truly believe this restaurant can be that. The waitress phenomenal! A true stud for an employee. You need 10 just like her. Sweet, personable, and spoke intelligent, which you never see anymore. I would come back just to have her as my waitress. A great place needs this. The liquor menu and choices of drinks is first class. If you are looking for a speciality Bourbon or Whiskey this is your place. They have much more than most. For the appetizer round we got the black bean tostadas. This was excellent!! Wow. So tasty. The radishes and the goat cheese was an excellent addition to this appetizer. Me and my wife decided to try to entrees so that we can learn more about this establishment. We got the grilled chicken chimichurri sandwich. This is the reason for the 4 star rating. This sandwich was blah. For all the items that are in this sandwich, the sandwich should explode in your mouth!! This one just didn't pop, at all. It has caramelized onions (which were limp and ehh), guacamole (not super flavorful, or old), bacon (couldn't taste it), pepper jack cheese, smoked tomato aioli (very mild) and lettuce. Sounds amazing right ?!?! It had very little flavor for all those items. And lastly we ordered the Bacon Meatloaf and wow this was amazing. I would go somewhere out of the way for this entree. Go there and try this. A delicious Meatloaf infused with bacon and wrapped in bacon too. Wow. Delicious. This had flavor. This popped. I loved the gravy on this Meatloaf and the spinach and the mashed potatoes. Great entree. I hope the next time I come in I am able to give this Restaurant the 5 star it deserves. And again a great waitress. She was personable and had a great conversation with me and my wife. She let us know she drives in from 30 minutes a way to work here. That's a testament to how she feels about this establishment. Everyone is hiring in the hospitality business and she drives from 30 minutes away to get here. That shows me that Iron Works deserves a 5 star. I hope to see you soon Iron Works. Keep making...
