Shannon View Inn — Restaurant in Warwick

I'm staying in Warwick for a week on business. Courtesy of COVID, I prefer eating in my hotel rather that in a restaurant. (Not so much fun.) Looking on Google maps for a good restaurant I found the menu for Shannon View Inn.

In the "Superlative Sandwiches" section, "The Cape Cod Reuben" caught my eye. Can a fish stand up to sauerkraut and rye bread? Really? I had to get one and try the concept. Well I'm here to tell you it is a success. Fried haddock can join in with kraut and the rest of Reuben fixings make a great meal. The main difference, I think, is the haddock has a mellower flavor than corned beef and allows the subtler Swiss cheese and Russian dressing to have their moment, too.

In my brief moment inside picking up my takeout order I saw an intimate tavern. In better times I'll come back and lift a pint with some friends.

I went to Trivia with a group of friends. The Trivia host was very nice but everything else was a mess. All three to four servers were equally covering all tables, which led to us being ignored multiple times, first when we sat down we waited at least 10 minutes for someone to come over, then again when we were ready to order food. We ordered two appetizers and waited over 20 minutes for them to come out. After waiting a long time for anyone to come over, we walked up to one of the waitresses who was not actively helping a table and asked if they could come over to us soon and she said she would follow us over immediately, but then never came over. We saw multiple rats outside and then one in the bathroom, the appetizers we received weren't great either. The drinks were okay, but after ordering a few beers and one mixed drink, we waited at least 10 minutes for it to come. We will not...

This was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment my family and I arrived, we were met with cold, unwelcoming service. As people of color who speak multiple languages, it felt clear our presence was unwelcome, and the behavior of our server suggested underlying bias.

While a 35-minute wait for food is understandable, the service was unacceptable—plates and napkins were slammed onto the table, drinks took nearly 20 minutes to arrive, and it took over 30 minutes to get our bill, which included items we didn’t order. When we questioned the charges, we were met with hostility.
