First visit, 5-25-25. (Read down for updates)
So, I randomly found this place by looking under the restaurant tab on Google maps. I'm so glad I decided to try them out. First off, the whole build your burger bit, but with good ingredients / options, it was fantastic.
I ordered myself a Kobe Waygue Beef burger(medium-rare) on a brioche bun, with Aged Guoda cheese, Garlic Aioli, Cherry wood Bacon & a Fried Egg. (Lettuce & Tomato already came on it. I got an order of their Truffle Fries & Mac&Chesse Bites. For a drink, I got their Hand-spun chocolate milkshake.
To start, the "Milkshake" was a bit of a disappointment. Definitely to thin for me to call it a milk shake. It's more like chocolate milk. Their Mac&Cheese bites and Truffle fries were great. It's very tasty. The burger was phenomenal. So, just and tender. It was worth every buck of the $20 spent on the burger alone. Food may seem atad costly, but worth it. I definitely will be coming back to try more of their food. They also have specialty sodas vs the regular big brands. Didn't get to try them since I already had my drink.
The decor of the place is very nice and designed well. The place looked very clean and the staff was outstanding. Very patient with people ordering and knowing which beef cooks best at what level. Overall, it's a great place and definitely worth the visit.
UPDATE: 7/1/25
So this will be my second visit here, and I brought my friends kid with me this time. Overall, the food was good. My burger came out great, and so did my friends kids' burger. Now we ordered the Truffle Fries, Mac-n-Cheese bites & Perogies. The fries and Mac bites both tasted great just as before. The Perogies were ok. Just didn't really do it for me. Maybe more filling.
Now, for my biggest disappointment, which is the reason for the down grade in food stars and stars in general. Last time I came and order a chocolate milkshake, it was more like a chocolate milk. Made my original post mentioning that. Had a response from owner saying that was a mistake. So, today I gave them another shot on that. Once again my friends kids shake and mine both were like chocolate milk. (Video of it this time.) Outside of that, this place is doing a great job. Probably won't order shakes anymore, but I definitely will be back for their food items. Plus, I still need to...
Read moreThis place has great burgers, but it's definitely expensive. It cost me over $17 for a regular burger and fries. Yes, you read that correctly. That's not cheap. They offer many different meats and the cheapest beef starts at $9 and chicken is $8. I wouldn't say you get what you pay for though. This is mainly due to their inconsistent performance and lackluster organizational skills. Their patties are pretty large and taste great overall, but again, the quality isn't always there. Often times, even their thickest buns quickly become soggy from grease/juice. Be prepared with napkins. The fries are good, but basic. Nothing special. The sauces for the fries, however, are breathtakingly delicious! Seriously, get the Cherry BBQ! It's brilliant! But that's where it ends. Great food, BUT... now the bad stuff. You always end up waiting a long time for a burger and their organization isn't very good. They often struggle to properly serve their customers in a timely manner, have to double check orders with customers, and seem to be slightly overwhelmed.. The staff is kind and friendly, albeit a little in disarray every time I go there. Which is strange because over time you'd expect them to get the hang of things. Anyway, I really do enjoy this place, but it's definitely not perfect and they need to step up their game if they want to justify the prices they continue to charge. The food is great, yes, but with such an inconsistent and disorganized experienced the past 3 times, I will honestly continue going to Smashburger in Glassboro as my main burger joint. Burger Barr remains, for me, a great place to eat at every now and then. If they reduced the prices on the patties by $2-$3, they would be far more competitive with other places. In its current state, you're paying for a "higher-end" experience , but are not always going to get it. Go ahead and give this place a try. It could be truly great or merely good. And good isn't bad, but remember the price you're paying. You're not...
Read moreTucked away in a strip mall in Sewell, NJ, this burger joint is an absolute gem! I can see why so many people rave about this place, and they deserve every compliment. They have all types of meat, and they also serve a fantastic Beyond Burger veggie patty, one that doesn't end with a taste of synthetic meat.. In addition, their sides are different from the normal fries and onion rings.. They have fries, truffle fries, but they also have onion skins, which were thinly sliced onions, fried to a crisp but still flexible, served with a spicy aoili type dipping sauce which was phenomenal. The unique thing about Burger Barr is their buns: they have multiple bun options, including a soft pretzel bun, which added a great unique flavor to my burger. I ordered a Veggie burger (Beyond Burger) with pretzel bun and onion skins.. The cheese was the default, as was the sauce (special sauce). The burger was incredibly juicy, the sauce was made to perfection, the bun was clearly a pretzel but was fantastic and definitely the right choice. The onion skins were crisp and paired perfectly with the spicy sauce! I felt very full after finishing, and couldn't tell that my burger wasn't real meat.. I can only imagine how amazing their actual beef tastes! I'll be coming back here soon (with my wife, she was upset that she didn't get to experience it with me and super jealous after I recounted the entire taste experience for her). BTW, service was fast and they're grilling it all in front of you in the back! Fresh! Thanks...
