Red Lantern Sushi & Asian Kitchen — Restaurant in Washington Township

We are NYC transplants. Our loft was steps from Nobu. We were pretty much resigned to never eating good Asian food again until trips back to NYC or abroad. Imagine our stunned shock at stumbling upon this little gem in the midst of horse country. And judging by the early crowds last Saturday night, the secret is out!

The service is impeccable; the host-owner will make you feel like you just stepped off a plane in Asia to family. Have some sake, spicy edamame and absorb the lovely decor.

The signature sushi is so creative and delicious that it is a must try. I literally moan in delight. I can't say that I enjoyed Nobu that much. If your leanings are more Chinese, do not ignore the Kitchen dishes. My brother (loved American-style Chinese) is now a convert. The dishes are fresh, healthy and authentic.

I have not had a single disappointing dish over maybe 20 visits. Please try it so we retain a good quality...

I am surprised at all the positive reviews and calling this place a "hidden gem". This is the second time we have gotten take out. First was a few years ago for sushi. I really don't remember much about our meal, which I am assuming it was just average (not memorably for being either bad or excellent). This time we got chicken curry, spring rolls and a general tso's type dish. They were eatable, but I've definitely had better for all of those (Thai Kitchen in Chester is much better, in my opinion). My wife wrote the wrong amount on our copy of the receipt so I thought we were overcharged. I also panicked and thought Red Lantern had shut down, because when I googled it I got a listing for Red Lantern at another location in Long Valley and it said it was permanently closed and I called the number and got a disconnect.
