Firstly, the 2 star rating is more or less contingent on the building being unbearably hot. This is not a suitable place to sit down and eat, let alone a safe work environment. It was at LEAST 10 degrees warmer inside and its about 70-80 outside. I sincerely hope the owners of this restaurant see this and rectify their air conditioning situation promptly before one of their workers ends up with heat stroke, I can only imagine its even hotter back there with the grills and deep fryers going. Lets not forget that means sweat, which can drip in the food, which is a HUGE no no for food heath safety as well.
(I think the issue is likely the vents that are used in the kitchen are simply sucking all the air conditioning right back out.)
Okay on to the food. I had the Carne Asada Torta, it wasnt bad, but it definitely wasnt really worth 7$ all by itself, especially when meals are like 8.50$ and come with larger portion of food and sides as well. It was more beans and guacamole than anything else too, which was kind of a let down especially since I'm not a huge fan of either, so if I had gotten it with light or none of either of those things there wouldnt be much to the sandwich at all....
Now there is definitely one bonus, the gentleman working at the counter (wish I got his name dang it, but hes a taller dark skinned guy), he was awesome. Super polite, quick, patient and professional with every customer I seen him interact with. If I could give separate star ratings for customer service this guy would have got a 5 for sure. Poor guy is probably about to die in that furnace of a...
Read moreHad a craving for Mexican and this was the only place we could find tonight. Spent $60+ and the nicest thing I can say (other than the friendliness of staff) was the food was edible. What I got was worth MAYBE $30.
The mulitas were tiny 4" size with no avocado chunk - admittedly I am spoiled on the Tacos California food truck in Lacey that has by far the most authentic and best tasting Mexican in the state. So I am used to larger mulitas with chunks of chicken, not small chicken bits and shredded chicken with no avocado. The mulitas were the saddest thing to me.
The taquitos (rolled tacos) were basic, pretty sure they just get these from the same bulk supplier everyone else does, nothing special. The guac was good, but I am pretty sure it was premade stuff. The salsa was OK and seemed more authentic and had a good heat (spice) but too earthy for my taste.
The super nachos were also very basic, but similar to other restaurants in quality; smaller in portion size though, definitely nothing super about them. We also ordered a chorizo with egg burrito and asked for no potato... it had potato and we didn't realize this till we got home and tried everything. Not a huge issue, but when we ask not to have something included, it shouldn't be included. What if this had been an allergy?
Overall, my review and rating is based on the mulitas and the lack of quality and portion size making the food feel over-priced for what we got. Wouldn't recommend this place and will most likely not be giving it...
Read moreIf you're looking for GREAT Mexican food, at a sit down establishment don't go here. If you're looking for GOOD Mexican food, that's fast and convenient and better than Taco Bell, GO HERE! We have a couple go-to items when we're craving a quick fast meal. 1 is the Taco Box. It's 20 street tacos, rice, beans and chips that come in a huge oversized pizza box. The Taco Box is a great novelty item and a big hit when folks visit from out of town. Our 2nd go-to are any of the wide variety of breakfast burritos. Our only complaint with these is depending on who makes them, they can either be tiny, or super big. It's good to ask ahead of time to, "please make them large." I have to say, the last time I went, I ordered a $4 Horchata and it was absolutely the WORST I have ever had! It was so watered down, I dumped it as soon as I got home. It was ALMOST as watered down as their salsa. The one thing that keeps us going back is the fact that they have a convenient drive thru and the service is fast. The search for great Mexican food continues...
