Such an awesome place!
I admit that I had not originally planned to visit; I don’t normally visit pubs or bars. However, I came with my girlfriend after she heard about the meat pies and we both agree that this is a fantastic place to go! The atmosphere was very open and friendly, taking advantage of fantastic choices of staff and an open concept of seating. The food was very very delicious with a taste that I’m still not sure how to describe as other than savory and nostalgic. The drink selection is large enough to have variety but condensed enough that you can easily find a favorite to return too.
I have to also give a shout out to how Colvos also pairs their pies; each pie didn’t have a varsity if sides to pick from that but rather pairs each treat with a sauce that best god with it.
Try it out folks, I promise it will be either one of your favorite places for a yummy snack or to have a...
Read moreWe were running out of places to try for dinner, so we stopped by at Camp Colvos. We ordered two chicken pasties and a cider. We were pleasantly surprised by the 'clean' tasting pasties with tender and chunky pieces of chicken, carrots, and mushrooms. The pastry was flaky but not greasy. Unlike the traditional pastie, it did not have a knob at the end for holding on to, and in any case, it was too hot to hold. I'm wondering if they have a really hot oven or they use MerryChef ovens to heat them up. We loved the pasties so much we shared a third one and came back the next evening for more. I did, however, have an episode of heat stroke sitting in the beer garden. Even though it was the evening sun, the sun shade on the top did nothing to block out the sun and the heat. I ended up having to sit across the street in the...
Read moreDO NOT ORDER A SANDWICH!!!! Their photos online are old and deceptive. That is what their sandwiches USED TO LOOK LIKE. They are now half the size and not nearly as tasty as they were a few years ago. I’ve been eating here every now and then for the past 3 years, beginning to have a worse and worse experience every time, hoping it would get better, as the location is so convenient. But this was the final straw, these sandwiches for $16+ are HALF of what they used to be, and the manager will gaslight you for thinking otherwise.
Pictured is the chicken parm I received and the chicken parm I thought I was going to get. They clearly are not the same sandwich cut in half, these sandwiches USED TO BE HUGE, as they are pictured and...
