The area is rough, and I'm sure it's changing, but hey! The store was decently clean, only a few people hanging out on the side, and of course, I get asked to buy some strangers food ..I don't have it like that to spend all that money on churches then gotta nevermind I took it as a blessing being given... I had the fish sandwich it was surprisingly good I put it at number one or 2 in the fish sandwich wars under arbys before Wendy's the tarter sauce was good the bread was good but oversized, the the lil shrimp was good the biscuit was actually fresh and delicious, I was missing a couple of biscuits and cheesecake lemon pie after asking the lady was everything in there she was so confident that it was but it wasn't her service was decent though but check your order before you leave I was ready to go in fear of being asked to buy someone else food I ain't got it 🤣😌 also I called numerous times (8x)no one answered so I said let me drive up there with my receipt and of course it's a different manager and she's like I can't replace 2 biscuits and a pie I'm like I can see if it was the chicken that's something simple and I showed her how many times I called ... wasted gas and time , I also got the chicken 2 piece. I don't like salty, but I also don't like flavorless it was supposed to be spicy. Where was the Spice! And greasy, but it was fresh and crunchy and decently good, I haven't really had church's in years but I'll give it another try it's the only one in the area especially if you too tired to cook and if you are tired of always going to the other...
Read moreI had not had Church's chivken since they left the DC area in the early 2000. I went to a location on Minnesota Avenue SE in DC. This is located next door to the Allen House Senior residence. It use to house The Domino Pizza carryout. I ordered the special which was 3.49 3 pc.spicy chicken dark meat. I thought that it would have at least come with a honey biscuit; which I gave yet to taste. It was just the 3 pcs., of chicken. I also ordered a large fried Okra side, and the new Texas cut bacon on spicy chicken sandwich. The sandwiche was actually much better than I anticipated. It was not as large as the Popeye's chicken sandwich. The flavor was way better than the dry, hard to eat McDonald's so called crispy and juicy chicken sandwich. (That's a whole other review). Back to Church's. The sandwich had a sandwich spread with pickles on it; the bun was toasted. Delicious, with my favorite bite if spiciness. The chicken was crispy and yes, juicy. I've still yet to taste a chicken sandwich that beats Popeye's. The chicken pieces in the 3.49 special was not eaten until Sunday. Thank goodness with the help of an air fryer it came out just as good as if it was eaten the same day. The chicken was crispy, juicy and yes spicy as I had anticipated. They do have the original non-spicy version (classic) chicken sandwich and parts. I just happen to love spicy. The Okra was delicious. Being a southern girl from Tennessee I love fried okra. The side for a large was 4.99. All in all it was a good day...
Read moreArrived at 8:50 a.m. on a Saturday because their website and Google hours say they opened up at 8:30. Pulled up to the door and the hours of operation on the door say 9:00 a.m. so I'm like okay someone should be opening the door soon. I see a man unlock the door at 9:05 and he immediately locks the door behind him. Go back in my car and wait some more to see a second employee go inside. I finally got tired of waiting and I go to the walk up window and knock at 9:30 to find out what time they are opening. The young girl tells me "We open up at 10:00." When I ask why does your door say you open at 9:00 she just replies with "You'll have to talk to the manager about that but they aren't here." I finally got my food at 10:30 a.m. after waiting for 1 hour and 40 minutes! I will never come back here again. I even saw a Dash delivery food driver on a rented Lime bicycle pull up at 9:00 a.m. to try and pick up a food order. If the hours on the door can't be updated at least get a piece of paper and pen and hand write a sign to the effect of "We don't open until 10:00 a.m." so customers are not left out there in the hot weather waiting and looking dumb!! Do better Church's...
