This place is a hidden gem in DC. My first time having it I ordered the basil fried rice for takeout and it was absolutely amazing. I went in yesterday to enjoy some time alone and it was even better in person. The drink selection is great and they taste as good (and as strong) as they look. The service was also amazing and it’s a nice quiet place to enjoy a book with tasty food and drinks on the weekends. The playlist is also a hit. They have happy hour 3-9 M-F and all day on weekends and they also have a live DJ on Thursdays. I couldn’t recommend this place enough! I wanted to leave my review with an updated happy hour and food menu since there doesn’t seem to be any. If you’re in the area, give this spot a try.

Very casual and fun joint offering a wide array of Thai foods. Both the booth and bar setup give a very casual - hangout feel; as well as the music they play over the speakers. The food is very good if you are looking to try Thai cuisine. The portions of the food are also quite generous. They also have a bunch of classic western dishes as well for appetizers too, like chicken wings and mussels etc. So if you're not too into thai food, there are dining options to pick from. I personally recommend the drunken noodles. They have a decent array of drinks to pick from as well, though I settled on a regular Thai tea. Overall a nice swanky spot if you are looking for a more casual dining experience.

I recently visited Sala Thai and was pleased to find that the food remains delicious, showcasing authentic Thai flavors that I love. However, I was disappointed to see that portion sizes have shrunk while prices have increased. It’s frustrating to leave still feeling hungry, especially when you’re paying more for less. Additionally, the Thai tea, which I was excited to order, came in a tiny 6-ounce cup for $4. While it was tasty, the price felt steep for such a small serving. Overall, while the food quality is still great, the changes in portions and pricing are concerning. I hope they reconsider these adjustments.

I was extremely disappointed in the service that my husband and I received last night. It is unfortunate because this is not the type of service that we received when this location first opened, however I think they have already started to get a bit too comfortable. Times on the website are not correct, and the staff was very unprofessional upon our arrival. We arrived at 8:42 PM, with an ample amount of time before closing at 9:00 PM (although the website states closing is 10:00 PM on Sundays), only to be told that we could receive carry out only. Apparently two of the three cooks had ALREADY left the kitchen for the day, at least 18 minutes before his shift was actually supposed to end. They obviously knew they had messed up, because they apologized to my husband and I over and over again and even gave us two extra spring rolls for free. Staff was also arguing about wages in front of us. Will definitely be following up with the GM about...

Be very aware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The police continues to post outside Sala Thai Restaurant to target people after having a good time. You don't even have to drink more that two drinks in order to be pressed, interrogated, and boxed in by plenty of police cars. They will sit and wait for you to eat, drink, laugh, pee and take a load for Christ sakes just so that they could pick with you. And also, do not have an expensive car with tents it bothers them to the max lol. The officer told me they could lock me up for standing outside of my car with keys in my hand. Lol I thought I was doing a good deed by paying for another table's check and come outside to something senseless. And the reason why I'm posting this issue on here because it happens to be an ongoing problem is what I've been told and it needs to be taken care of. I'm not sure if the people at Sala Thai are calling them there or not but it isn't fair...

I ordered glass noodles (can’t remember the actual name) it was pretty salty, and I couldn’t eat it. I normally don’t send food back. At worst I’d take it home and recook to my preference but the lady next to me asked that I send it back so I did. They were supposed to make another and package it for me to go. Would you believe they basically just packed the same meal I returned? I work next to the restaurant and I promise I’d rather starve than go back there. I haven’t even talked about the horrible smell that hits you once you walk in or the fact that their calamari which comes with seafood is always chewy. The cherry on top is the black skinny bartender who wear glasses that works there. I don’t need to go into detail but if you ever have an issue with your order, best believe she’s the reason you’re not getting...
