I went here on a Saturday afternoon around 4:30. It wasn't crowded what so ever. Ordered a regular large Margarita, it was average. I ordered deluxe fajitas for 2 even though it was only me, and the spinach mushroom cheese dip. I came here to specifically do this review, and also, I was recommended to eat here by a coworker. Honestly, everything was very average and so was the service. The dip wasn't thick enough, it was a runny mess, although the fresh spinach they used in it was good. The fajita portions were satisfactory so, I brought allot home. The flavor though wasn't the best. It tasted slightly burnt and salty. Ashley, my server was friendly enough, although when I was ordering I felt rushed. I was brought one napkin, no water, and I had to ask for a spoon to successfully create my fajitas. She was on point in bringing me my extra containers and prepacking some of my extra food before I finished. Over all the whole experience was very average. The bill was $50, again not terrible, but not great. More than likely I won't return here to eat.

I'm impressed. This was the last of my 4 "Mexican" restaurants in Washington quest. Trying to find which does what best. I lived near México City for almost 4 years so I have a little insight. The Campechano nachos at Ernesto's are my favorite nachos in Washington thus far. The meat and cheese melded perfectly together. Neither of them was overpowering the other. I love the big pieces of tomato, they provided great texture and flavor to a few special bites. I ordered salsa de Chipotle on the side. I must say that I enjoyed it, but I like it spicier and less cut with crema(i think it was crema) .. So if you're like me, ask for it to be more Chipotle and less crema. The environment and decor were homey and not overbearing, which I appreciated. Overall, I'd say to go to Ernesto's and try a favorite dish you've had somewhere else (to compare) or try something new. I plan to try the Chilaquiles (with green sauce if possible) next time, one of my favorites from México. 😊 Great job! I look forward to my next visit.

Ernesto’s Mexico Restaurant was a fantastic surprise! Tucked away in a shopping plaza just off the main road. The food was absolutely delicious, with fresh flavors and great portion sizes. You can tell they put care into every dish. Even after what looked like a busy rush, the service was still quick, friendly, and efficient. The staff was attentive and genuinely welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. It’s rare to find a place with both excellent food and top-notch service, but Ernesto’s nailed it. Next time you pass, though, be sure to give this place a try.

Still waiting for Ernesto to return call. Horrible service. Food might've tasted good had it been served properly. Waitress brought mine last after it sat & got cold, soggy & nasty. Then acted like she got offended when I wasn't satisfied all around. I left most of mine. I traveled 2 towns to try this place. The waitress pushed the chips, brought more of those while mine food was still sitting getting nastier all b/c I was thirsty. She had the nerve to charge my daughter b/c she sucks @her job & then guilted my daughter into an almost $20 tip that no one in the place served. She tried to get loud saying she's gonna refuse to serve me b/c, well for whatever reason. She doesn't have to worry&ever does Ernesto & his family b/c they're garbage I won't be returning to give any money to them. Even if it were free. She knew that so called "special" was just getting soaggier & she intentionally brought mine last. I'm usually not one to complain but the so call male(child) to me, if he care he would've came & tried to make the situation right. Don't pretend a plate is hot that you let get cold on purpose b/c you don't do your "career" w/quality & pride. Just there for a check&not good serve! I have bi children that speak other languages & know some & when you just wanna show pictures to make yourself look like a good restaurant but your "employees" don't care? You have a problem. 10years? Authentic? She asked if the table wanted more chips b4 I even had one thing I ordered after bring my daughter & my friend their food. My friend was almost nearly finished eating b4 I even had mine! Runny over priced soggy shaddy crapola!...

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. This was hands down one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. I knew I was in trouble the moment I stepped inside—the air was thick with the smell of old fryer oil, and everything from the tables to the menus had a greasy film on them. It felt less like a restaurant and more like a deep-fryer explosion waiting to happen.

The service was just as bad as the atmosphere. It took forever for someone to acknowledge us, even though the place wasn’t even busy. When our server finally arrived, they seemed annoyed that we were there, barely making eye contact and acting like taking our order was a massive inconvenience. I get that people have bad days, but this wasn’t just bad—it was downright rude.

Now, onto the food—if you can even call it that. Everything was drowning in oil. The fries were limp and soggy, the burger bun was practically dissolving under the weight of grease, and the chicken tasted like it had been fried in the same oil they’d been using for weeks. I took one bite and immediately regretted it. It wasn’t just greasy; it was nauseating. My stomach started hurting before I even left the table.

By the time the check arrived (after another long wait), I was ready to run out the door. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy. If you enjoy food that tastes like it was cooked in a vat of sludge and service that makes you question your life choices, then by all means, give it a try. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and eat literally...
