We felt mistreated by the elder waitress and felt the apology was due to us mentioning how rude she had been. *I only mentioned her age because I dont recall her name* Arrive we were greeted nicely by Host & escorted to a table with menu's. Only one other patron was there! The waitress said they expected a party of 30... When she came outside, 2 of the guests were arriving, and she said hello to the outside guests as she walked to our table. We began telling our orders... the waitress stopped immediately to greet, walk over to hug & talk(ask about family)& and escort the guests inside! She ignored me, and I immediately said, "That was rude," as she was standing and conversing with guests....she still walked them inside. When she returned, we told her it was very disrespectful. He 1st response was defensive and lie. She said, "I don't have my pad to write your order. "... If that was the reason, she should have said that before we started telling the order. The server wasn't very friendly. The food will be the only reason I'd go again.

This place has been in D.C. since 1984 so i feel bad that i haven't come sooner being that i grew up only 5 minutes away. Always heard great things about the food and finally got to try for myself. This is one of a handful of authentic Mexican restaurants in the D.C. area and i must say that they didn't disappoint at all. We tried the fajitas and tacos. The tortillas were hand made and the steak was very flavorful and tender. Was the best Mexican food I've had to date in the DMV area. Will definitely be back very soon.

Always walked by this place so finally decided to check it out. We ordered the steak fajitas and a beef quesadilla. Both were flavorful and delicious. Price is pretty good for what you get. The staff were so friendly! Only thing is we didn’t think the frozen margs were that strong. I wasn’t even sure if there was tequila in it even though they insisted there was. I would come back for the food and ambience!

La Lomita is somewhere we have been visiting for years. We were introduced to it by friends who had been frequenting there for decades. Their comment was that it seemed so friendly the first time they stepped in, with everyone in the restaurant loudly greeting them-then after a pitcher of margaritas they were the same way. They realized the margaritas were so good, everyone in the restaurant was tipsy.

The drinks remain good at La Lomita. The food has always been good, but nothing astounding. It has a nice environment that makes you feel like you have traveled outside of DC inside, an outdoor patio with good seating, and, at least used to have, live music. It is not Americanized to where everything has copious amounts of cheese and occasionally you want more salt or sauce.

The salsa is fresh and good. You don't have to order chips, they give them to you. The staff is friendly and on top of things. The owners are the kind of people you can get to know by frequenting. And, did I mention, the drinks are pretty good, especially the margaritas. Great place to hang out with friends or have a...

La Lomita is a well liked and friendly neighborhood restaurant but it is benefiting mightily from being one of a few Hill East restaurants. The food is average and is overpriced. The restaurant is in bad shape. The patio is rotten, the landscaping is an eye sore and the inside of the restaurant is sorely in need of updating. Worst part is the trash just behind the patio attracts rats. I have seen them around the restaurant and dead in the street in front of the restaurant. I have never seen a rat inside the restaurant but I have seen them just outside of the doors near their trash. There are several new restaurants coming to Hill East at the Blackbird building and Beckett’s Park on E st. La Lomita will go out of business or be forced to renovate with their business going to nicer establishments. I am pulling for the restaurant but they must reinvest capital into the business to keep attracting people once Hill East has more options. Those options will be on line by...
