Masala house is a small Indian restaurant located in the town of Washington, Pennsylvania. They have been serving the community of Washington since 2018 serving authentic Indian food. with a fine taste of authentic Indian food and cheap and reasonable prices. This is one restaurant you cannot pass up in this area.
I Felt very welcomed from the moment of walking in the door. Upon arrival I was the only one in this restaurant, that immediately changed within a matter of about 10 minutes. Masala house was completely filled with patrons even waiting for tables. Even with a full restaurant, they were always friendly at the table and quick to service.
Service was instant with menu, water and order of my chai tea delivered to my table immediately. Soon after the waiter was quick to take my order that I would be delighted in moments later.
The Chai Tea was very flavorful. With a blend of black tea, ginger, cloves, cardamom and cinnamon, the chai is a beautiful balance of smooth and spicy. Served unsweetened was perfect as I could balance the sweetness to the spice to my liking. I even had to order a 2nd cup to go to top my meal off.
The lunch thali buffet that I ordered was beyond words. With such a large flavor profile combination my taste buds were never bored. Even after being completely full I found myself still seeking more. The Lunch Thali offered all the 6 different flavours of sweet, salty, bitter, sour, astringent and spicy on one single plate. I would have to say that the chicken masala and fish curry were my two favorites. They were so rich and full of flavor. I could’ve sat down and eaten dishes of each of those. The garlic naan that I ordered on the side was cooked to perfection. The garlic was not over powerful but just enough to match the flavor profile of the Thali platter.
If you’re seeking a place for lunch one day, I recommend checking masala house out. There’s something for everyone but definitely check out the Thali platter. You won’t leave hungry or...
Read moreI had a perfectly pleasant experience on a double date with my fiancé and friends I had previously only known online. The walk to the restaurant was very lovely, in my opinion. Low traffic, well-lit, sidewalks and crosswalks, lots of beautiful architecture and plenty of greenery, and no litter. ❤ I tried the korma here, and we also got naan, which we were both very satisfied with. The korma was a little different from my previous experiences, and possibly not my preference, but that is in no way an insult, as it was still quite good. Due to some unfortunate stomach concerns, my friends both only got garlic naan, but both of them were very impressed! My fiancé and I, as well as my friend, tried something new - a dessert for me and her that had fried milk dumplings and ice cream, and a very spicy goat dish for him, and we were very happy with them. Unfortunately, I can't remember the names... I couldn't pronounce them, either. I can't speak on his part, but the new experience of the dessert is one I can speak on. The soft serve vanilla ice cream is a perfect pair for the fried dumplings, which reminded me quite a bit of donut holes, only softer. It was like... Fried cookie dough, almost, in texture. The syrup it was soaked in was so intensely flavored, spiced, and sweet, that it's incredibly hard to tell that the ice cream itself is vanilla at all. It was very delicious and satisfying.
I live quite far from this location, but I would definitely come back if I found myself in...
Read moreThe food is good, but vastly overpriced. Just under $24 for chicken tikka masala? Yeah, no. I've had far better tikka masala, with the same size portion for just $16. Even their naan is overpriced. $7.80 for garlic naan? Try $4 instead. Ordering from their website also has multiple different fees tacked on, and ordering off GrubHub or Seamless ups the price on every item. Even ordering by phone for pickup they tack on extra fees. They really want people to order and eat in the restraunt, it would seem, which is a massive shame because the service at the restraunt is not great, and they clearly had a sewage issue the last few times I went to pick up food, because the entire place smells like an overflowing septic tank.
Edit: Notice how nothing was mentioned about their sewage issue in their response to me. That means it's not fixed. You'd think that with how much extra they are making off suckers who order online and pay $30+ for chicken tikka masala and garlic naan, they would have enough money to fix their sewage. Read their other responses to customers as well who left low reviews. They dodge addressing the issues brought up as much as possible....
