TL;DR: excellent protein to rice ratios. HH doesn't save you that much.
Parking: shared lot next to Holiday Inn Express.
Atmosphere: cafe-like setting with limited seating, not a very large dining area.
Menu: has images and straightforward descriptions. You will be handed several menus: sushi, drink, specials, main, and Happy Hour menus (during HH only). The sushi menu is laminated and has tick mark boxes. Mark what you like on the large laminated sushi menu and write down any additional things you'd like that aren't listed on the bottom section.
Service: wait to be seated, you will be watered, order at the table, check brought to you, you will pay while seated at the table via a portable register the server brings.
Happy Hour prices are not too different than regular prices and you are required to purchase a beverage. Don't expect huge percentages off the meals--just a few dollars off. Limited selection of items on the HH menu.
Miso Soup: typical miso soup with seaweed bits and tiny tofu cubes. Not overly salty.
The sushi rolls here have a very even ratio of rice and protein. They are not like some places that go heavy on the rice. The sushi tastes really fresh and is cool in temperature as opposed to some places that serve you room temp sushi.
Bubble Bubble Roll: my all time favorite sushi roll that I wish was offered everywhere! It has such a nice combination of flavors. That lemon slice is edible -- eat the whole thing! The lemon adds a nice tang to the salmon and the salmon roe add a nice burst of saltiness.
Philadelphia Roll: typical Philly roll but there is a slightly more generous proportion of salmon in the roll compared to some other sushi joints.
Veggie Tempura Roll: The veggies are nicely breaded with tempera and wrapped in the sushi roll. There is a light crunch to eat bite which I appreciate. However, the sauce that is drizzled on top is a bit sweet in my opinion and I would have appreciated a...
Read moreThe food was great, which is a shame because the service from one younger gentleman was terrible. We went in for dinner on what I assume was a busier than average night, and be when we join our group we are seated by a waiter who proceeds to tell us that they have a bunch of people waiting so if we could hurry up that would be appreciated. During the course of the meal he would keep coming back with an unfriendly attitude asking coldly if what we were waiting on. The service we received from the waitresses was great, and despite being busy they maintained a positive attitude. It was at this point we also learned that they pool tips here - otherwise we would have gone out of our way to make sure our money went to someone who actually tried to make us feel welcome. Don't really understand why we were so rushed either, there were plenty of other tables opening and the groups up at the door wouldn't have fit our small table.
Anywho, food was good. Just never had someone tell me to eat and...
Read moreI rarely give any reviews but thought I should post my experience today. I went to pick up an order that was already placed online and paid for. When I arrived, I had to use the restroom and the lady at the counter was helping another guest. I used the restroom and then proceeded to pick up my order. After she handed me my order she leaned close to me and told me I should have asked before using their restroom because they have random people who aren’t customers coming in and using their restroom. I felt embarrassed seeing as how I had already received my paid for order and told her that had I not been picking up an order I would have not Used the bathroom and she said” you still should have asked” personally I felt uncomfortable and thought it was uncalled for. I understand there are transients around Salmon Creek but I am a hard working person and pay all my own bills. I also work in customer service and would never embarrass someone like that. Shame on this lady....
