Sharetea DC Chinatown — Restaurant in Washington

Udaye July 2022: They only want/pay you to order through your phone. They were refusing to take orders in person but now they let me order that way so i don't just leave. They aren't great at customizing your order (even slightly, like changing to clack tea) as far as the front person (who isn't good with people) but the person making the drink made him go back to me and give me what I want....he was better with people (he thanked me when i left). I get the impression that the front person just doesn't want to deal with people. To me, this place is a 4 expect for the iffy way the front deals with customers (including being overcharged the first time). The drink was good although I would order it less sweet next time. They overcharged me by a dollar which I did not realize. They also charged me a bag fee without asking if I need a bag or even giving me a bag. I caught the bag fee but not that dollar overcharge... Because I didn't check the menu price until I got home. Also, the drink that it says on the cup in the picture is not actually a drink that I ordered or so they definitely put it in the system. The Asian girl (wish I caught her name) working Friday night provided us superb service! I had questions about rewards and other menu items, and she answered with patience and an attitude to accommodate. The drinks are hit or miss - sometimes 50% sweetness is too bland and for other drinks it’s not enough. Boba can be firm chewy or soft chewy. Flavor comes through on some drinks but not others. It’s not horrible, but I’ve had better…however, being that there are not many bubble tea places in DC, this one is good ;) I like the kiosk ordering system. Sometimes the line is out the door, so then it’s worthwhile to order ahead of time online. They’re usually pretty quick and have always gotten our orders correct.

There’s no seating but there is a bathroom (for customers, I assume). You can wait inside but it can get crowded quickly.

All in all, I would return because the last few times I’ve been here, the customer service has been excellent. Tonight’s experience motivated me to finally...

WATCH YOUR BILL, they’re adding charges and relying on people to not notice. I just did a quick run down of the reviews and I saw someone else mention this too. My drink (Thai milk tea with less ice and 80% sweet, no additives) was $5.50. I was charged $7.59, I thought that was a little high so I asked and the guy said “tax is 10%,” which for drinks, shouldn’t be but okay, so then I asked were there two different sizes and he said one size, honestly I was wrapped up in conversation with my friend, and I have a bit of social anxiety, so I didn’t push it any further but it did stick with me. When my friend was rang up, she got a drink that was $5 and her total came out to be like $6.05. Even if sales tax was 10%, how does $.55 add $2.09 to my drink? Obviously $2 doesn’t break the bank, but I want people to know this location is being shady and quite literally stealing. It’s not okay, and I hope something is done. Just watch your bill if you choose...
