If you want to be Overcharged and underserved, this is the place to go. Let me start by saying that they cramped 11 of us in one table. I was very excited since I had seen a tiktok about it, but I should have know better when I barely saw people there. My family and I wanted a place to hangout because most of them had eaten, but some of us still ordered food. My cousin ordered spring rolls and the server was upset that she didn’t order more food. We order appetizers that came out way after the food was as tossed at our table! The server was rude and never came back to give us refills. There was a small bug on the table and I still tried my best to overlook it. I was afraid to use the plates because I didn’t know how long they had been sitting there. The restaurant is dirty and has really outdated decor. On top of that, we wanted separate checks and the server left upset when I asked, his response was, you pay and everyone can cash app you! I couldn’t believe it but We knew it was because the service charge was $45 dollars, when we asked to get separate checks another gentleman came to help because I was left trying ti break up the bill. Once he handed the receipts, we told him that we would leave the tip on the table. He started shouting at us saying that there is Latino people working in the front cleaning and Latino people in the back and who was going to pay them, that is when I got upset and told him that our tip would go to them and not the server. He excused the server’s bad attitude and bad service by saying that he couldn’t speak English. We were all so upset, he wouldn’t let us leave because we were refusing to leave the outrageous service charge! My cousin who only ordered spring rolls, which were $5.75, was asked to leave a $5 tip on that ! My other cousin ordered the alcohol drink for two and was being asked to leave a $10 tip! So you could imagine how much he wanted the rest of us were being forced pay in service charge. We were so frustrated standing at the door that I told him he could call the cops if he thought we didn’t want to pay for the food minus the service charge, to which he said, “ you come here to have a good time, and you want to call the cops ?!” At that point we all handed him exact change and we still left some tip which he didn’t deserve! I have never been to a place where they try to negotiate how much tip they deserve, please stay away...
Read moreAhhhh. It hurts me to write this review. I'm Vietnamese. Dim sum is a part of our culture growing up. We typically go to Dim Sum on the weekends to gather our families. I've been eating dim sum at Mark Ducks House and Fortune in 7 corners. I've never had Dim Sum in DC. I'm going to start with all of the good things about this place before this review gets sour.
The ambiance and the decor is very classic when it comes to Chinese dim sum restaurants. The table were neat and clean. Small per usual. The service was actually very good. They were very active and attentive to our needs. This is usually the opposite in my experience. I get horrible service but amazing food. This time it was horrible food and amazing service.
The carts were barely making their way around. Some carts got stuck in the back while the same carts kept making it to us. I'm use to carts being very aggressive and pushing a variety of food into the table. We were hungry so we had to keep ordering the same dishes since we didn't know when they would come back with a different cart. We ended up ordering 4 shumai dumplings and 6 crystal shrimp dumplings. But I think you get the point that's not all that I wanted. I wanted clams, oysters, crab claw puff, wide flat noodle, Singapore style noodles, rice crepes, etc. they never came by but once at the end after we were full.
When we did get dim sum off the carts the food was not hot. Tasted very much like it had been sitting out. I knew they were old because our dumplings were sticking together and falling apart. That doesn't happen as often when they are fresh. The meats inside were one dimensional and were hardly seasoned.
The dim sum in 7 corners is much more composed. The food is fresh. The carts are constantly being pushed. That way you have the choice of a variety of foods and not one aspect of dim sum. I don't think I'll be coming here again. If this is the representation of Chinatown Chinese food this is quite an...
Read moreIt looks very janky out front of the building. The restaurant is located on the 2nd floor. And it doesn't look much better on the inside either. I came here alone after an art show on a Friday night for dinner, I was the only person in the restaurant and two guys were leaving as I came in. There was no all you can eat option even though its listed as such. Anyways, the entire time I dined nobody was in the restaurant except me which was fine AT FIRST because it was very quiet and just me, however I was charged as if I ordered for an entire table of people and I had to keep swatting knats and mosquitoes away. Everything was seriously overpriced but was marketed in a way that the portions were bigger or that the food had a Mongolian or Polynesian twist to it. I ordered 1 drink $16, 2 appetizers $25 one was crab and cheese wontons (which had no crab in it) and the other was the beef skewers, 1 main dish was triple delight birds nest and was $31, I thought it was something special or different since I've never had triple delight or a birds nest, heck at least from the menu it seemed appealing. My total was $95.95 a complete rip off!!!! Honestly the food wasn't bad but to upcharge my entire dinner because there are no customers (the waiter went on and on about not having customers and the mandatory included "tip"/service charge) is absolutely wrong. I can clearly see why no one was in the restaurant, I ate here years ago food was great and reasonably priced, it wasn't anything like this and I will never go back again. Do...
