was there tonight and the food was ok, but when it came to paying a guy brings the credit card machine to our table and the first thing it showed was the tip amount, 1- 20% 2-15% 3-10% and he stands right over you waiting for you to select one, i am a great tipper and have always gave great tips for great service but it felt like i was being judged if i didnt select the 20% tip, (which i did) it made me feel cheap if i didnt do that, to me that shouldnt even be on there, if the standard tip rate is 15% then why are you asking for more, hell why not ask for 50% you money gouwging idiots, geeez dont you pay your staff good, i was in there a different time for a pick up order to go,and the guy says that will be 17,39 do you want to tip the cook. what the heck, he gets paid to cook, i wont go there again because of this, pay your employee's good and leave the tip up to us. do you tip your delivery supplies driver, or do you tip any of your vendors, dont freakin ask us a choice of the amount of tip to give, we are not idiots. you are a resturant and you have employees assigned certain jobs, a cook, a hostess, a waitress a manager, and you beg and watch to see how much tip a customer leaves, wow this is just wrong and i will not ever go there again. if i do, i wont tip anything if that machine displays the 3 tip choices. even my son who loves spiro's said that was so wrong and he asked for a comment card and yall told him no but he could do it on your website, holy cow are you that low to not have a comment card there for the guest / customers. worst experience i ever had at...
Read moreOrdered for the first time from Spiro's last night. Cheese tortellini w/alfredo sauce was okay, sauce was very thick and pasty .. this was a to go order so perhaps that was the issue? I ordered pesto on my pasta, and when I got home found I had Spiro's Pesto that includes sun dried tomatoes. I had to pick them out, I don't care for them for one thing, the other is I had dental surgery earlier and the reason we were getting pasta was I felt crummy and my mouth was very sore and I didn't want to chew - anything. The coconut curry potato soup was very thick but had good flavor. The pesto itself was not fresh, I grow my own basil and know the difference between aged dark green pesto and fresh vibrant pesto. it was also very oily leaving a puddle of oil behind in the to-go container. The flavor was not what I had anticipated. Not sure we will be back after this, but may try their pizza before making that decision. I will say they were quick to answer and our order was ready quickly. One other thing, I felt in a bit of an awkward position when I was told by the cashier I could enter a tip at one point during the check out.. or push the green button and go on with payment.. I wondered what I was tipping for on a to go order.. yikes, I always thought you tipped because of good service at your table. I looked on their website for a contact email, and it is not easily found for feedback or issues.. I would have called to perhaps return my wrong order of Spiro's pesto vs. regular pesto, but it had been a long day, I was tired, my mouth hurt and I...
Read moreDisclaimer: I'm a basic cheese pizza kinda guy. I feel like I'm being gaslit by all the positive reviews. Dad brought home some takeout cheese pizza & cheese bread. The only flavor I'm getting from the pizza is salt. Taste and texture feel store bought; the mozzarella I buy from costco somehow does not share the same physics as whatever they're using here. Cheese bread feels like someone took flavorless bulk/dry mozz, rolled it in salt, and threw it on grocery store bread. Hopped online to look up what he paid -- not okay with this.
I want to like and support local/non-chain joints and I believe the other reviews that say the staff are great folks, but I can't in good conscience recommend this. Maybe the more adventurous stuff is good, maybe I'm a picky eater. Maybe this review isn't for you and it's for the plain cheese weirdos. Take this review with a grain of salt, but hopefully not much more than that or it'll approach my recent experience.
Still, every local place deserves a chance so please try 'em out at least once if you're from around here so you can draw your...
