So I ordered Sushi and Sushmi for the 1st time online at this location. I've eaten here before but stopped eating there because the food quality has seemed to drop to subpar standard and I've been mostly going to Puyallup anymore. Well I thought I'd give it a shot on Sunday because I didn't wanna go out and football was coming on soon. I ordered at 11:05 am and my order was to be ready by 12pm. Ok fine that will work so I sent my husband to retrieve the order. Well the order wasn't ready until 12:20 pm and they kept apologizing for the lateness in a restaurant that had very few guests and I'm pretty sure my order was one of the 1st they had online let alone at the location from patrons. My husband arrived back to our home and we discovered there was no ponzo sauce (I think that's what it's called) on the cucumbers that come with the sashimi sushi roll combo along with some miso soup so pretty much all we got was cut up cucumbers in a bowl. Okay now on to the rolls in which I ordered the Samantha roll which if you're a regular of trappers you will know it is one of the most expensive rolls at trappers. Needless to say I've had it many times but this particular time it was extremely tasteless and the only thing you could taste besides the extra fishiness of the scallops on top was the sear of the scallop itself. And there seemed to be quite a bit of half cooked rice in the roll. What a disappointment at $22.50 for this roll. Then I went to open my sashimi Sushi dinner special that came with a roll and on the side there is usually seaweed salad and some clam that's hidden underneath a piece of lettuce. Will it was under a piece of lettuce that should have actually been thrown away because it was rotten on the ends and slimy. Who wants to eat food underneath rotten food? Well not me! I was only able to eat half of my Samantha roll and couldn't stomach anymore. I tried the nigiri that was included in the dinner and it tasted like they were made the day before. The fish not tasting fresh and the rice stale like it had been made the day before with the salmon on it then put in the refrigerator. Alot like something you would get at your local Safeway store. Just disgusting! Well I'm done with this Trappers Sushi and will only return to have a few cocktails but never the food. But I guess if you are a college student and have no transportation and looking for sushi you will eat anything you can get. Next time you will find me eating at the location in Puyallup or I'll go to the Koi in downtown where the food is fresh. *Yes the manager was notified by another employee whom I know well and she failed to respond even to the pictures. I guess we know where the problem is.

We’ve been loyal customers here for many years, but sadly this visit showed just how much the service and hospitality have declined. When we walked in, we were greeted and told it would be a 15–20 minute wait. That seemed reasonable, so we sat and waited. After 20 minutes, we noticed at least 6–7 tables sitting wide open, yet no effort was made to seat us. We were specifically waiting for the all-you-can-eat bar area, and one table there sat empty for over 10 minutes without anyone bothering to clean it. No acknowledgment, no “we’ll be right with you,” nothing. What made it worse is the staff’s attitude. One employee sat at the bar watching TV, and another was just walking around chatting with customers instead of delivering any customer service. Meanwhile, we were left waiting, completely ignored, for a total of 30 minutes — and still no table. If someone had at least acknowledged us, apologized for the delay, or started cleaning the table, we would have felt better. But instead, it felt sloppy, careless, and unprofessional from the moment we walked in. It’s frustrating because we’ve always enjoyed coming here in the past, but it’s clear the standards have dropped significantly. The hospitality that used to make this place worth the trip is simply gone. The only reason we stayed as long as we did is because the nearest Trapper’s is 30 minutes away — otherwise, we would have walked right out. As longtime customers, it’s really disappointing to see how far downhill this location has gone. Definitely not worth the frustration anymore. Management truly needs to step up, retrain the staff, and bring back the level of service and professionalism that customers deserve.

If I could give this placeIf I could give this place no stars, I definitely would. Service was terrible, out waitress Kiana, was not attentive at all. She only came to the table to take our order, bring our order and give us the check. She did not check in on us at all. No water refills or asking us if we were doing okay. We ordered 2 entrees, that are supposed to come with soup and salad and she didn’t even bother to bring them. We had to ask another waitress to confirm if there was actually soup and salad. The food was mediocre AT BEST, and the sushi was worse. From the picture, we got the teriyaki chicken, Firecracker (Tony) roll, Dragon Roll and teriyaki salmon. Both entrees were over cooked and over priced. Look at that Firecracker (Tony) roll. Does that look like it’s worth $10? Tony would be completely disappointed and would want his name off the menu and not be associated with that roll at all. I’ll be honest, even fred Meyer’s sushi looked and tasted better than this disaster. Maybe they should’ve hired the whole sushi department of one store to replace their whole staff. It was a HUGE disappointment, a waste of money and overall a waste of time. This was suppose to be a Valentines dinner but because of the food and service, it felt like it was Halloween. Calling themselves a sushi restaurant is a complete disgrace to all professional sushi makers in the world. If you value sushi and your money, you should definitely avoid this place. I REPEAT AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE IT HAS COVID! no stars, I definitely would.

I want to start out by saying I normally love this place. My partner and I usually come to this Trapper location once a week or every two weeks. We always do the all you can eat and never have an issue. Today however we had a bad experience with a Manager.

The bartender needed to take his 30 min break at 4pm. Totally understandable while he was away we needed refreshments. Our server stated we can still order that management could make the drinks no problem. Our drinks came after abut a 15 min wait and were horrid. Mind you we ordered a basic lemon drop that tasted like Lemonade unfortunately it had sugar at the bottom of the drink and was basically kids juice and then a Maker's Old fashion that also tasted like juice when it's suppose to just be Liquor.

This is the first time in 4 or 5 years we have EVER had a issue with our drinks. We kindly waited for our server to check us out since customers were picking up. When asked how things were I explained how awful the last round of drinks were to the waitress she said she would ask management to take off just those 2 drinks. The manager came out asked about our issue and we explained. She proceeded to tell us "I tasted the drinks and they were fine" then "you must just be having a bad day" we stood their confused then before we could respond she said "I'll refund them but I tasted them and saw no issue with how they turned out". I kindly paid, left a tip, then after saying thank you she stated "Hopefully you have a better day snarkily".

Personally the whole situation could of been handled differently and she was very unprofessional. I've never had a server state they were tasting customers drinks let alone alcohol beverages on the job especially not a Manager then be rude after tiping even after the encounter we just had.

Hopefully the Manager on duty from 5/29/23 between 4 and 5 pm can be counseled so this doesn't occur with future guests when they have a complaint regarding food/drinks they...

Sigh... I hate to write this review because I normally like the food here but I figure I should probably let other people know what happened, just in case this wasn't a one-off scenario. Back in August, I ate here with a group of friends. I paid for the meal for the group so that we didn't have to juggle four different checks, everything was great in regards to the food and service, but on our way out a server chased us down with a card reader. He told us that the card payment didn't go through and that I needed to swipe my card a second time. Okay, sure, this kind of thing happens, I've worked in food service before. I didn't think anything of it. When I got home, though, I realized I had in fact gotten double charged. I called the restaurant and they said that they couldn't find the extra charge in their system and advised me to call my bank. I went through the chargeback process with my bank and got an unprofessional, all-lowercase letter in the mail today from the company via my bank saying I needed to call the location for a refund, and that the double charge looked intentional (they were for slightly different amounts for some reason, about a dollar different, not sure why. I certainly didn't intend to pay twice for the same meal.) I did call the store immediately after the incident happened. They couldn't help me the first time and I doubt they will be able to help months after the fact. At this point, I'm frustrated and tired with the situation. I'm just going to eat the double charge, live and learn, and not come back here again. I'm willing to believe this was an honest mistake, but the fact that management couldn't locate my order doesn't reflect well on whatever software or organization methods they are using. TLDR: If you choose to eat here, do not let anyone swipe...
