El Don Quijote Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Waterbury

I have read alot of these reviews and some people are just miserable! Its not often our entire family goes out and EVERY SINGLE FAMILY MEMBER HAS NO COMPLAINTS! YES we were served kinda slowly with the food but when everything is made completely fresh to order including the salsa and chips and make sure you order a dish of the queso cheese which makes the chips amazing and we also were a party of 11 you can't expect them to just let your plates sit in a window for all to be done because then all you miserable people are gonna complain your food is old or cold. This was some of the most refreshing excellent drinks and Mexican food we have had in a long time. If you have never worked in food service please don't complain about food taking a few extra mins to come out unless u want undercooked or reheated food to meet your time expectations! It wasn't like it was hours of waiting for food! When we went it was fairly a new place and we definitely will be coming back again soon! Ty again to all the staff that took a big party late instead of turning us away when it was almost closing time and giving my family an amazing quality of food that everyone including the 10month old baby enjoyed! This is the first time I've ever written a review but I was so upset and disappointed I felt I really needed to share this horrible experience. Ladies bring your own toilet paper! There were very few patrons in the restaurant when we arrived and after I went to the bathroom the first time l shared with the server/bartender that there was no tp. When I left 1.5 hours later, there still was none the 2nd time I went to the bathroom. The service was Sooo Slow... it was like watching paint dry. The server/bartender knew we had just driven 3 hours and had another 3 hours to go to reach home and were not there to hang around for a long time. It took way too long to take our order, the food took forever to get, and we didn't get our drinks for 20min and there were only a few people in there - I can only imagine how bad/slow it would have been if it were crowded. My husband's food was good, but mine was fair. We asked immediately for takeout containers because we needed to get on the road. I had to hunt the server down to pay the check! We could have easily walked out without paying instead of waiting around to try and find the server to pay. We were so looking forward to authentic Mexican food and this was the BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT. If you want quick and efficient service...

I have been here before and it was good. The whole family loved it. We came back and brought friends. The table was sticky and dirty even though the place was empty. They brought out everyone’s plates separately, which I thought was weird. My daughter’s was brought out well after everyone else had their plates. My food was barely warm, but everyone else’s seemed ok. The man that was serving us seemed to be the only one working and was running around everywhere on the phone the entire time we were there. It wasn’t the good service we experienced before. He had even forgot to bring a drink to my daughter and I had to remind him because he was too busy talking on the phone that he didn’t even notice. Our food tasted ok, not great like the time before and it was quite expensive. That night, both of my kids were sick at the exact time most likely from food poisoning. I had some mild stomach upset. We were the only ones that ate the refried beans. We will not be coming back or recommending this...
