Nothing impressive about this restaurant.
It's on the corner of a BUSY street and small neighborhood with ZERO parking for the restaurant. You're lucky if you can find street parking.
Front door was locked even though business was open. The young Guy that sits on the stool by the front door didn't bother to see nor assist several customers standing out front trying to get in. After entering through the patio door. Finally got seated. Only to have the older waitress quickly ask for the food order. Quickly brings it And never returns..40min later..still never received a drink. Only the food. (Which left a lot to be desired)
Had to go back up front to the guy on the stool..to get him to get the drink brought over.
A glass sooo full of ICE (that there was only 2 swallows of tea in it) they said they ONLY have CAIN sugar. No equal nor splenda.
The Hibachi wasn't your normal Hibachi. (Waitress doesn't ask how you want your steak cooked) The steak chucks were more STEW meat. The flavors were weird tasting. Especially the Ginger dressing on the salad. Very watered down (no Ginger flavor)
The sauce for the Hibachi meal...(gross tasting- on the sour side)
The Miso soup was the only decent thing about the meal.
Not once did the waitress ever come back and wait on our table to see if all was good and if anything else was needed?.
Soo disappointed.
The sushi that we ordered to take back with us. Was never brought to the table.
So we stated that we wanted to only pay for the (awful) meal we ate.
The waitress wasn't having it. She picked up a bag that had been sitting on the take out/ delivery table and said your sushi is ready and shoved it at us and wanted $$$
No sorry at all was stated from the waitress nor the guy on the stool..they wanted you to pay. Money was their ONLY concern. NOT CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Nor customer satisfaction!!
And AFTER paid the check.
ONLY then did the waitress say a quick (sorry) And then she said (We didn't charge for the Ice Tea)
Really? That's how you treat customers for the poor service?? You don't charge them for a 40 min LATE (glass of ICE) with 2 swallows of tea!!
No, what you do is you realize your fault and you comp the meal. You go above and beyond.
You didn't wait on your guest. You put a meal on the table and walked away! You left Sushi sitting in the front of the restaurant and gave it to them WARM!
You didn't do your job!!
There was nothing impressive as related in the previous reviews. Quite the...
Read moreTL:DR; Best sushi in Boston Metro Area. Get Uni sushi, ramen at Saturday lunch, spider maki, baked scallop, Sukiyaki (beef), and Unadon (eel).
Best sushi in the Boston Metro area, when you take into consideration price, quality, and service. The prices are reasonable for sushi, which still means expensive compared to most foods, but its top quality for not top dollar. Saturday lunch is probably the most reasonably priced time to go as you can get a delicious and HUGE bowl of ramen for $10. I recommend going spicy when they give you the option as it adds a lot of flavor without melting your face off.
I'm a huge Uni (sea urchin) fan and no place in Boston has better Uni. They have it only select times of the year, however, because they source it from Maine not the West Coast and crack it open within minutes of serving. It might not look as pretty as some from the West Coast, but its taste and texture is unsurpassed. They also have some really unique sushi specials, such as their smoked salmon sushi or their sushi pizza which has a tempura fried base with different types of fish on top. If you are more into rolls (maki), they have plenty of options. Their spider maki (cooked soft-shell crab roll) is also excellent when just made and they make a Volcano maki that is massive and delicious.
In addition to their sublime sushi, their cooked dishes are just as good if not better. In terms of appetizers, their baked scallop is done in the shell with a bit of spicy mayo and chives so it has a smokey, creamy taste. Their sukiyaki (beef) is wonderful and a must try if you have never had it before. Their Unadon (eel) is also wonderful, although it can be pricey depending on market.
Overall, I would highly recommend going if you are looking for your new favorite sushi place. While it can get busy during the weekend, I would say reservations are only necessary if you are going in a group of 6 or larger. They also do takeout, although I've only ever eaten at the...
Read moreI usually post my first impression.
It seems fair. One chance to impress me. Will I come back? Or will I feel robbed?
I waited until the fifth time I returned here to write this. Just to see if they would break the streak of pure excellence!
Which they did not.
I ordered sushi to go here first. The largest boat they had. We were hungry. And I was impressed with the quality, and value for money I walked away with.
Then I came back to just eat and drink at the bar. I was pleased with the drink selection and the teriyaki.
Took out sushi again. Just as pleased.
Came and ate the dragon Maki. It was superb. Shocking in its flavor and texture. Just... the fish mixed with the mushrooms. Pure umami explosion.
Then the next time I ordered the sukiyaki. The thing in the picture.
I don't know if I'm genetically predisposed to love this or something, but the first time I ordered this, two different servers came to check on me because I was crying. It was that good. I was literally in tears.
I can't think of a better compliment. I've brought back friends, and have visited 3 more times just to eat it alone.
Also, the place is decorated by someone with genuine taste. Dark stone and leather, bright wood, and zen paper craft motifs.
This place is a gem, and if you haven't eaten here, you are robbing yourself of life changing...
